What you will do at the Y:

We are seeking a driven and compassionate leader to join our team as Wellness Director. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to create and lead impactful wellness programs that foster a healthier community for people of all ages and backgrounds. The Wellness Director will play a pivotal role in program development, staff management, community engagement, and service innovation, helping to advance our mission within the community.

  • Program Development: Lead and design an inclusive, comprehensive wellness program to meet the varied needs of our community, fostering engagement and improved health outcomes.
  • Staff Management: Recruit, train, and manage a team of wellness professionals, including instructors, trainers, and coaches, ensuring high-quality service and member satisfaction.
  • Member Engagement: Cultivate a welcoming and inclusive environment where members feel motivated and supported in reaching their fitness and wellness goals. Partner with other Directors to drive branch events and membership initiatives.
  • Community Outreach: Build relationships with local organizations and agencies to promote YMCA wellness programs and expand our community impact.
  • Innovation & Trends: Stay updated on industry trends to continuously improve our wellness offerings and actively participate in Association Service Teams to share best practices.
  • Fiscal Responsibility: Oversee the wellness department budget to optimize resource allocation and align with YMCA goals. Support fundraising efforts for continued program growth.
Qualifications

Who You Are:

Are you a dynamic leader with a strong commitment to community wellness? Here’s what you’ll bring to the role:

Experienced Leader: With at least 3 years in wellness program management, you have a strong track record of designing and overseeing effective programs, managing resources, and engaging communities.

Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Health Promotion, or a related field that equips you with the foundation to develop impactful wellness programs.

Professional Certifications: Certified as a Personal Trainer or Group Fitness Instructor (such as ACSM, ACE, or NASM) with CPR/AED certification to ensure a safe and supportive environment for our members.

Inspiring Leadership: You’re skilled at leading teams with enthusiasm and purpose, supporting professional growth, and motivating staff to deliver exceptional service.

Effective Communicator: Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, enabling you to connect with members, staff, and community partners of all backgrounds.

Innovative & Knowledgeable: You stay current with trends in wellness, bringing new ideas and improvements to our programs to continuously enhance member engagement and impact.
