As the Facility Engineer, you will be responsible for the overall maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and efficient operation of the YMCA Fairfax County Reston branch. Your role is crucial in providing a welcoming and safe environment for our members, staff, and visitors. Qualifications
  • Experienced Professional: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in facility management, engineering, or related field preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in facility maintenance or engineering.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in the operation and maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and fitness equipment. Certifications such as HVAC or CMRP are a plus. Acquire Pool Operators License within 90 days of employment.
  • Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.
  • Problem Solver: Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to address and resolve maintenance issues efficiently.
  • Leader: Effective leadership and supervisory skills, with experience managing a team preferred.

Essential Functions
  • Housekeeping and Cleanliness: Oversee daily cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure a spotless and welcoming facility. This includes common areas, restrooms, locker rooms, and exercise spaces.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure the facility adheres to all safety standards and regulations. Conduct regular safety inspections and address any hazards promptly.
  • Equipment Operations: Manage the operation and maintenance of all facility equipment, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and fitness equipment.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Develop and implement a preventative maintenance schedule to prolong the life of equipment and facility infrastructure.
  • Vendor Management: Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized maintenance and repairs, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies, tools, and equipment. Ensure timely replenishment and proper storage.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and train housekeeping and maintenance staff, fostering a culture of teamwork and excellence.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to facility-related emergencies promptly and effectively to minimize disruption and ensure safety.
