Job Description

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for all day to day aspects of facility and equipment maintenance, housekeeping and grounds. Will provide repair service as required to keep the facilities safe and functioning properly for members and staff. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the YMCA meets the challenge of being a mission driven, value-based, community-minded service organization.

Qualifications

1.    Three or more years experience in facility management or closely related field.

2.    Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, carpentry, and other maintenance-related areas.

3.    Skills in supervision, budget management and project management.

4.    Ability and current license to drive with record that meets YMCA standards.

5.    Familiarity with personal computers helpful.

6.    Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.

7.    CPO (Certified Pool Operator), PA Pesticide Applicator Certification are required within the first 180 days of employment. 

Essential Functions

1. Provides overall coordination and implementation of maintenance, including planning and developing preventative maintenance programs and annual improvement plans for the West Shore YMCA facility. Provides support to all Harrisburg Area YMCA facilities.

2. Ensures the proper operation of all mechanical systems.

3. Works closely with the Aquatics Director to complete all pool maintenance, including chemical balance, backwash and filling. Directly responsible for proper operation of pool mechanics, including boilers and pumps.

3. Completes repair work and projects in a timely manner. When repairs cannot be completed in a timely fashion, the maintenance director will communicate reasons and timeframe for repair to the appropriate department director and complete repairs within the adjusted timeframe.

4. Conducts regular and timely walk-through of facility for cleanliness, safety, maintenance and risk management issues.

5. Oversees all contractors that work in the facility and grounds. Assists with the requests and review of bids and recommends selection of contractors.

6. Works with outside agencies such as fire, health, building depts., etc. to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations related to facilities and grounds.

7. Participates with other members of the management team in the YMCA Annual Campaign.

8. Advises management on maintenance issues and projects as requested.|

9. Updates facility plans periodically. Assists in the development of a capital projects plan, consistent with the YMCA’s strategic plan and community needs.

10. Orders and maintains inventory of supplies consistent with the YMCA’s policies, procedures and need basis.

11. Ensures that all seasonal landscaping and snow removal is completed in a timely manner.

12. Attends and participates in assigned branch and YMCA association committees (West Shore Branch Facility and Safety Committees, Association Risk Management).

13. Required to be able to respond to maintenance emergencies 24/7.

14. Performs other work-related duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
