Job Description

Leads a team of staff to deliver, plan and provide programming at the Harbor Highlands Community Center, including staffing regular afterschool/summer youth programming, open center hours, building rentals, and other special events. Manages the programmatic aspects of the food access programs. The Director works closely with all branches to provide notifications, updates, training resources, support, quality control and technical assistance as it relates to the food access programs. Conducts site visits as prescribed by the State of Minnesota. Delivers excellent service to all members, guests, and program participants.   

Qualifications
  • Must be at least 21 years of age with Associates degree; 
  • Knowledge regarding office processes and procedures.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with web-based systems and databases.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training.
  • Experience working with children.
  • Experience planning and leading programming for youth and adults
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to connect with people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Possess a valid state driving license
  • Have use of a properly maintained, licensed, and street-legal vehicle
  • Maintain minimal or higher insurance coverage as mandated by state law on vehicle (12)
  • Possess excellent organizational skills and be flexible with time and duties. Demonstrates ability to function in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. The ability to manage multiple, time-sensitive tasks is a must.

Essential Functions
  • Hire, train and supervise Harbor Highlands program staff to include AmeriCorps members and interns.
  • Lead and train a team of staff to deliver, plan, and provide programming at the Harbor Highlands Community Center, meeting programming goals as formed with Harbor Highlands Director.
  • Provides direct service and management of school aged youth in the program and builds effective, authentic relationships with participants and guardians while helping  them connect with each other and the YMCA.
  • Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the Harbor Highlands Community Center.
  • Create and manage Harbor Highlands and youth programming budget.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Harbor Highlands Building needs to include contacting maintenance and HRA for service needs, first on-call for alarm system and maintenance, and other duties as assigned.
  • Plans and leads special events for members of the community
  • Engage community members in development and implementation of programming at center.
  • Schedules and supervises the use of the Harbor Highlands Community Center by external and internal groups
  • Develop on-going communication tools and produce monthly updates/newsletters to the neighborhood
  • Maintain a safe and engaging environment during open hours for neighborhood youth.
  • Plan and implement enrichment activities catered to youth’s interests and needs.
  • Program administration, risk management, data entry, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance and proper grant administration occurs for the CDLI Grant (YUSA), Food Access Grant (YUSA) and any other grants secured for the program.
  • Developing and delivering training related to Child and Adult Care Food Programs and Summer Food Service Program
  • Providing support with grant submission, local and national funder and partner visits and special events.
  • Overseeing responsibilities associated with state audits, site renewals and site applications for CACFP and SFSP.
  • Managing the programmatic aspects of successful CACFP and SFSP programs across the Association; completing all required audits and corrective action follow up; conducting required trainings for all staff; communicating closely with vendors to ensure that high quality menus are created, and snacks and meals are delivered.  Working closely with the finance team to ensure that CACFP/SFSP revenue is maximized; reviewing CACFP/SFSP revenue and expense monthly; identifying areas of expansion for CACFP/SFSP and working with site locations and the Association office to approve new sites.  Working with local and national experts in the field of food access to ensure cutting-edge expertise in this area.
  • Provide clerical, administrative and general support to Community Services Branch.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
