Job Description

Under the supervision of the Vice President of Youth Development and in accordance with the policies of the YMCA of the Triangle, the Association Director of Teen Engagement is responsible for department administration, program development and implementation of Association Teen programs and events. This position will work with the Vice President of Youth Development and other staff members to strengthen relationships between the Y and families by assisting with organizing, implementing and developing the family engagement opportunities.  

Qualifications
  • Prefers a baccalaureate undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university with at least 4 years of youth and/or family programs experience. 
  • Models a commitment to the YMCA Mission, Cause, values and leadership competency model.   
  • Proven skills in human relations, relationship building and engagement, public speaking, program management, and volunteer development.   
  • Maintain necessary certifications including but not limited to CPR and First Aid.  
  • Demonstrates a broad understanding of Youth Development, Sports, Recreation and Outdoor Activities, and should be a competent leader in several such activities.  
  • Strong ability around marketing and communication for the vision of growth and improvement of the Y Guides program across the Triangle. 
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.  
  • Multi-lingual desired but not required. 
Essential Functions
  • Requires vision, speech, and hearing to normal range, with or without accommodations made of sufficient nature for the completion of assigned tasks. 
  • Ability to communicate clearly through written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to lift and carry a maximum of 20 pounds.  
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, pull and push.  
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and have the ability to drive.
  • Ability to adapt to change quickly, work under stressful conditions on a regular basis, and take the responsibility for the health and safety of others.  
  • Travel, including overnight, will be necessary.
