The Staten Island – Counseling Service YMCA is seeking a Vocational/Educational Counselor who will be responsible for providing vocational and educational services to program clients, including direct individual and group services and workshops, coordination of specialized program services, and case management of assigned clients.

Qualifications
  • CASAC-T, CASAC Provisional, CASAC (any level) required. CRC; MHC, MSW, MFT, MHC-LP, MSW-LP, MFT-LP, LMSW, LMHC, LCSW desirable.
  • Minimum of One (1) year of experience in Vocational or Educational counseling. Vocational/educational planning, facilitating Vocational/Educational groups, counseling, soliciting employment opportunities and relationships desirable.
  • Knowledge of Substance Use Disorder, Criminal Justice, and Child Welfare Systems.
  • Knowledge of motivational interviewing and trauma informed care.
  • Knowledge of mental health, governmental, private, and community programs and entitlements available to patients desirable.
  • Bilingual preferred.
Essential Functions
  • Perform initial vocational/educational interviews and assessments.
  • Develop vocational/educational plans for identified clients.
  • Provide ongoing individual and group services to help clients work toward and achieve identified goals. Provide workshops to the client population focused on vocational/educational topics such as resume writing, interview skills, etc.
  • Assist with applications for outside services, schools, jobs, training programs, educational programs, etc.
  • Maintain timely and comprehensive required documentation and service tracking to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and funding agency expectations.
  • Coordinate care for the designated caseload, including participation in case conferences, completion of ongoing reporting, outreach, referrals, and dialogue with professionals working with the caseload.
  • Professional development: Participation in team meetings, individual/group supervision, and identified training opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
