Job Description

Under the direction of the Senior Executive Director, the Heath & Wellness Coordinator is responsible for promotion, supervision and evaluation of the following areas: wellness center and personal training. 

Job Type: Full-Time Non-Exempt Hourly. 

Schedule: Hours may vary but hours will typically be Monday - Friday 9:00am - 5:30pm, will also include occasional weekends Sat 8:00am - 4:00pm, and occasional evening shifts 12:00pm - 8:30pm 

Pay: $18.00 per hour. Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required. 2 Year degree in Recreation, Therapeutic Recreation or health related field preferred.
  • Minimum of four or more years of experience working in a wellness center or recreation facility, with preference working at another YMCA or nonprofit agency
  • Requires training, certifications, or experience with group exercise, program development, and fitness equipment
  • Able to direct program and supervise staff and volunteers, development of budgets, marketing and fundraising
  • Requires knowledge of computer software applications and hardware. Must have a working knowledge of Windows Office Suite
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Experience with diverse populations preferred
Essential Functions
  • Responsible for the Wellness Department including supervision of staff, programs, and budget responsibilities.
  • Direct Supervision of all group exercise instructors and wellness floor staff ensuring that each area is adequately staffed
  • Responsible for the recruitment, interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, supervision, recognition, and terminations for all Wellness staff under the direction of the Senior Experience Director.
  • Ensure all group exercise instructors are in compliance with the minimum education, certification, and/or continuing education requirements of the department
  • Oversee general management, cleanliness, and upkeep of the group exercise and spinning studios, wellness center and related equipment.
  • Order and record inventory for all operating supplied of the department.
  • Assume responsibility for the development and marketing of health and fitness programming including brochures, incentive programs, bulletin boards, email newsletters ect.
  • Execute wellness staff meetings and continuing education programs for personal trainers and wellness floor staff
  • Teach or lead classes in the wellness department and have scheduled hours covering the wellness department at least 15 hours per week, which may include weekend.
  • Any other duties assigned
