In this role, you will oversee a variety of activities, including Summer Day Camp, Youth and Adult Sports Programming, and Sports Leagues such as our popular Youth Basketball League. Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent.

  • One to two years related experience preferred, as a coordinator or supervisor of child care programs.

  • Required trainings within 30 days of hire include completion of: Child Abuse Prevention; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens, Preventing Sexual Harassment and Active Shooter training.

  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Essential Functions
  • Manages and coordinates summer day camp. Ensures high quality summer camp and establish new program activities. Expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.

  • Assists in summer day camp operations including; developing curriculum, securing supplies and managing program rosters.

  • Manages, directs and coordinates all youth and adult sports programming and leagues. Ensure high quality programs and establishes new program activities.

  • Responsible for sports programming operations including; creating sports teams, organizing and conducting parent orientation meetings and conducting all trainings and meetings for coaches.

  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel (part-time and seasonal) and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.

  • Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Ensures that

  • YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.

  • Provides support for parent follow-up as needed, addressing behavior and other challenges.

  • Escalates situations as needed to the Operations Director for follow-up.

  • Regularly collects and reviews incident reports for all sites, ensures timely/complete submissions and flags priority incidents for immediate review.

  • Ensures programs are properly staffed and provides coverage as needed.

  • Coordinates any needed transportation for field trips or special events.

  • Develops and maintains relationships with school administration, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs. Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.

  • Uses technology available to develop and distribute team game schedules; trains and schedules sports officials; develops and distributes sports rules, guidelines and handbooks.

  • Maintains proper records/department files.

  • Assists in YMCA fund raising activities, including league sponsorships.

  • Attends Program Cabinet meetings.

  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.

  • Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.

  • Serves as Leader on Duty (LOD) as assigned.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
