Job Description

With the support of the Executive Director and program area support staff, the Program Director is responsible for all of the Youth/Teen, Sports, and Aquatics programs and initiatives that will enhance and elevate the member experience. The Program Director is responsible for the oversight and implementation of all Teen Leaders, Achievers, Aquatic, Sports and camp programming and operations. The Program Director will recruit, hire, train and supervise different teams in respective program areas. The Program Director will serve as part of a collaborative leadership team to ensure strategic goals which include but are not limited to; operational, fiscal, community impact and mission advancement established for the Tri Community YMCA are met or exceeded. Additionally, the Program Director will participate in the Annual Campaign initiatives as directed. 

Location: Tri Community Branch YMCA, Southbridge MA

Schedule: Monday - Friday between 9:00am-5:30pm; occasional evenings (after 5:30 pm) and weekends as necessary

Job Type: Full-Time, Salary Exempt

Qualifications
  1. Must be at least 21 years of age
  2. Bachelor’s degree required in a related field or equivalent experience preferred
  3. One to two years of related experience and supervisory experience preferred
  4. Within 90 days of hire, complete all required certifications including: CPR, First Aid, AED and any other program specific certifications as needed
  5. Actively pursue and YMCA Leadership Competency Certification (Multi-Branch Leader) 
  6. Must be able to effectively and tactfully communicate to diverse audiences 
  7. Must have basic computer knowledge including Microsoft programs including: Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel
Essential Functions
  1. Ensures the successful development, implementation, and growth of all program initiatives to include but not limited to: Teen Leaders, Achievers, Sports (Youth & Adult), Aquatics, and Camp programs. Record and compile data, identify trends to evaluate program effectiveness. 
  2. Demonstrate fiscal responsibility; contribute in the preparation of the annual operational budge. Monitor monthly financial reports to ensure revenue targets are being met and expenses controlled. Use discretion when making organizational purchases. 
  3. Recruit, hire, training, supervise and cultivate successful departmental teams. Practice coaching managerial style that builds relationships and promotes positive morale. Perform annual performance evaluation and provide consistent and constructive feedback. Conduct regular departmental meeting and adhere to all department and HR policies.  
  4. Respectfully and effectively communicate with leadership, peers, subordinates, member and community partners from diverse backgrounds to support optimal branch operations.
  5. Identify and coach professional growth with staff that demonstrate leadership qualities and delegate responsibilities to support your goals. 
  6. Identify and cultivate community relationship for beneficial collaborations resulting in positive community impact.
  7. Perform administrative functions as necessary and participate/conduct leadership, departmental and attend board meetings
  8. All other duties as assigned.
