The Member Engagement & Child Watch Director supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the general direction of the Executive Director, this position is responsible for providing visionary oversight and leadership to the Membership Department and Childwatch Department. The Member Engagement & Child Watch Director is responsible for the member engagement, sales, retention, customer service, and staff leadership and oversight in each departments.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in education, early childhood, recreation, human services or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of early learning, child care experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
  • Minimum of (2) years of management/supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships.
  • Strong leadership skills, ability to take initiative and respond to a variety of situations and manage several tasks and projects at the same time.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated budget experience and skill with quantitative information and ability to make decisions based on logical reasoning.
  • Must complete mandatory trainings of New Staff Orientation, BBP/Child Abuse Prevention and CPR/1st Aid/AED trainings within 30 days of employment.
Essential Functions
  • Manages, directs, and coordinates all aspects of the Membership department, to include customer experience, sales and acquisition, membership retention, administrative transactions and business functions, and providing leadership and visionary direction to staff and department operations with an emphasis on exceptional customer service.
  • Manages, directs, and coordinates all aspects of the Childwatch department, to include staffing, attendance tracking, utilizing parent feedback, and  providing leadership and visionary direction to staff and department operations with an emphasis on exceptional customer service.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of high-quality child care activities and curricula for children of various ages and developmental stages.
  • Hire, train, supervise and develop part-time staff and volunteers.
  • Conduct and report staff evaluations annually, as well as on-going, non-formal evaluations of staff to ensure highest quality of staff are in place and adding value to childcare programs.
  • Purchase and maintain materials and supplies for Childwatch programs and welcome center.
  • Assure compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to child care.
  • Ensure program standards are met and safety procedures are followed
  • Continuously examine branch effectiveness related to the membership sales and onboarding, customer experience, tour tracking and and follow up, and Childwatch experience, addressing issues and challenges in a timely manner in partnership with the other staff departments and leaders in the branch.
  • Communicate and partner with Association staff as a resource for program and staffing support, curriculum development, staff development and training efforts, program growth initiatives, and staff/participant engagement and retention.
  • Foster a culture within the Childwatch and Membership departments that emphasizes relationship building between staff and members, nurtures a deeper connection between members, and engages members with the YMCA cause.
  • Promote a strong connection between Membership, Aquatics, Wellness, and Childwatch departments.
  • Promote and facilitate a strong connection and partnership with Prisma Health team members and any and all functions happening within the facility and hospital campus.
  • Lead in coordination with the Wellness Director in promoting a strong connection between Membership and Wellness departments including Personal Training sales, Group Exercise attendance, and member onboarding to impact retention and member satisfaction
  • Lead branchwide efforts in partnership with Mission Advancement and Marketing Departments in the promotion of Association and branch membership initiatives, annual campaign efforts, and communication.
  • Develop and implement strategies and polices for increasing membership recreuitment and retention and member engagement, to include Childwatch andother branch offerings.
  • Conduct exit interviews and cancellation surveys with intent to salvage membership and/or to improve operations, procedure or staff performance.
  • Lead branch-specific aspects of Association Membership Campaigns.
  • Develop and monitor the annual budget for Membership and Childwatch department to include staffing expenses, supplies, revenue targets, and other areas to achieve the branch financial targets
  • Performs duties of all Welcome Center and assist with Childwatch functions, in the absence of staff.
  • Establish new program activities and expand programs within the community in accordance with the Association and branch strategic plans.
  • Intentionally and continuously strive to promote an organizational culture that advances practices and policies which value staff engagement, diversity, strengthens inclusion, and builds global community in the US and abroad.
  • Other Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers
  • Attend/complete required abuse risk management training
  • Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers
  • Follow mandated reporting requirements
  • Adhere to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities
    • Maintenance Employees-ensure unused rooms and closets remain locked; routinely monitor high-risk locations (locker-rooms and bathrooms), etc.
    • Front Desk Personnel- ensure consumers are properly signed in and out, ensure only authorized adults are allowed in the facility, etc.
  • Follow employees and volunteers screening requirements and use screening instruments to screen for abuse risk
  • Provide employees and volunteers with ongoing supervision and training related to abuse risk
  • Provide employees and volunteers with regular feedback regarding their boundaries with consumers.
  • Require employees and volunteers to adhere to policies and procedures related to abuse risk
  • Respond quickly to policy and procedure violation using the organization’s progressive disciplinary procedures
  • Respond seriously and confidentially to reports of suspicious and inappropriate behaviors
  • Follow mandated reporting requirements
  • Communicate to all employees and volunteers the organization’s commitment to protect their consumer from abuse
  • Report essential abuse risk management information to the board of directors
