Job Description

YMCA Director of Community Impact builds and maintain strong relationships with families, community organizations, and volunteers and assists with delivering programs focused on youth development, basic needs support, and engagement activities in apartment complexes, schools, community centers, etc.  Ensures all programs are in compliance with YMCA outreach standards and contributes to the execution of new program initiatives.   

Qualifications

·         Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED.

·         Previous experience working with diverse populations and bilingual preferred.

·         Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.

·         Possess strong organizations skills, conflict management, decision making and communication skills.

·         Enjoy working with children.

·         Capacity to be flexible and adjust to changing work environment.

·         Willingness to work primarily Tuesday–Saturday.

·         Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

·         Must have a valid driver’s license and pass an MVR check.

·         Experience as a bus/moving truck driver is a plus.

·         Willingness to work in an outdoor environment.

·         Ability to respond to emergency situations correctly; visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity.

·         Must be able to attend and complete all required training.

·         Must have reliable transportation.

·         CPR/AED/O2training certifications and Child Abuses Prevention, Understanding Your Biases, Anti-Harassment, Blood Borne Pathogens, Hazard Communication Awareness, and Slips, Trips, and Falls trainings required.

Essential Functions
  • Program Quality: Coordinate high-quality community outreach programs for various location(s), in adherence to Y program model, curriculum and quality standards. Implements community outreach programs that may include food distribution, food pantries, and enrichment programs.
  • Program Compliance: Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met, and risk management policies are followed. Ensures proper and regular maintenance of vehicles needed to deliver the program and other vehicles owned by the Y.
  • Program Planning & Innovation: Plans, organizes, and implements age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities fostering innovation by recognizing and sharing new and relevant ideas.
  • Marketing & Promotion: Expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information and schedule program registrations.
  • Community Engagement: Implements community outreach programs that may include food distribution, food pantries, enrichment programs and community opportunity sites.
  • Branch Engagement: Intentionally collaborates with branch program staff. Develop and maintain good working relationships with the directors, staff, parents and families by way of open communication, positive problem solving, flexibility, and teamwork.
  • Volunteer Engagement: Intentionally seeks out, cultivates, recruits and manages volunteers, individuals or groups, to engage in Y on the Fly and Play Day activities.
  • Relationship Building: Develops and maintains strong relationships with community partners, parent, community and volunteer groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs.
  • Program Evaluation: Collects necessary qualitative and quantitative data needed to monitor program evaluation and measure program effectiveness.
  • Annual Campaign: Participates in the annual fundraising campaign and committees as assigned and meets staff campaign goals.
