Job Description

The YMCA of Klamath Falls is seeking a Child Care Program Director. Reporting to the CEO/Executive Director, this position is responsible for the development, organization, implementation, promotion, and administration of a high-quality YMCA childcare program which includes; Infant/Toddler, Preschool, Preschool Promise, Summer Camp, and Afterschool programs, with a focus on enrollment, customer service, as well as the supervision of childcare staff.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education or the Human Services field and 1 years of experience working with children

Step 10 in Oregon Registry

And

(a) Be at least 21 years of age; and
(b) Have:

  • At least one year of training and/or experience in management and supervision of adults; and
  • Have knowledge of child development for the primary ages served in the center, as evidenced by a combination of professional references, education, experience, or training; or

(c) Have:

  • One year of training and/or experience in management and supervision of adults OR have knowledge of child development for the primary ages served by the center as evidenced by a combination of professional references, education, experience or training; and
  • A plan, approved by OCC, that shows how the missing component in (A) above will be addressed and how the program will be operated until the director has obtained the t raining, experience, or knowledge.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFACTIONS:

  • Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; CPR; First Aid; AED; Blood borne Pathogens
  • Fulfillment of state-specific hiring standards and completion of YMCA program specific certifications.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Essential Functions
  • Recruits, hires, train, develops, schedules, and directs teachers and volunteers as needs.
  • Manages, directs, and coordinates the infant, toddler, and school age childcare program for The YMCA of Klamath Falls YMCA. Ensures high quality programs and establishes new program activities. Expands program within the community.
  • Develops, manages, and controls budgets related to the position. Ensures program operates within budget and that programs fees are collected.
  • Assures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations as they relate to programs areas, including ADA accommodations where appropriate. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met, and safety procedures followed.
  • Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensures the physical environment supports health youth development.
  • Provides assistance to the CACFP and SFSP programs
  • Develops and maintains relationships with state childcare licensing agency, school administration, parent groups and other organization and agencies related to assigned programs. Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Recruits, hires, train, develops, schedules, and directs teachers and volunteers as needs. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Provides staff leadership for annual fund-raising campaign and supports grant writing efforts with relevant data.
  • Maintains proper records/department files.
  • Organizes special events for parents/students.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
  • Compiles and shares program statistics as required. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
