The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a motivated and qualified Associate Executive Director to join our team!
Job Description

As the Associate Executive Director, you will be responsible for all branch operations and helping to build a culture that creates an extraordinary member experience, encourages employees and volunteers to serve, and inspires committed donors. 

If hired, you will lead program operations including, but not limited to, membership, healthy living, aquatics, youth development, and properties/facilities. This position provides leadership to Y team members, creates meaningful high-quality experiences, and ensures successful daily operations of the branch. 

Compensation: $71,500.00 to $75,500.00 per year, depending on qualifications 

Position type: Full-Time, Exempt position 

Location: Tom Taylor Family YMCA, Gig Harbor, WA

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, business or equivalent (preferred).
  • Five or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency, with experience in volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of branch budget, marketing and public relations, and program development (preferred).
  • Knowledge and working understanding of all program areas.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • YMCA Multi-Team or Branch Leader certification (preferred).
  • YMCA Lifeguard or equivalent, CPR for the Professional, AED First Aid, and Oxygen certification, or ability to obtain within 90 days.
  • Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required.
Essential Functions
  • Ensures programming meets the various needs of our community and members.
  • Plan, develop and direct quality branch programs, including special events.
  • Ensure that all program materials and content reflect the YMCA mission, values and service to the community.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of each program to ensure a safe and fun environment that meets the needs of our members and helps to reach department and branch goals.
  • Direct the expansion programs to the surrounding communities, utilizing off-sight facilities.
  • Assist department heads with the setting of goals and objectives that relate to both short-term goals and the long-range strategic plan.
  • Review and monitor progress toward department and branch goals regularly and provide feedback to the branch executive director and staff.
  • Ensure effective systems are in place to measure the quality of programs and services and to receive and respond to member concerns and comments, in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Recruit, hire, orient, train, evaluate and provide ongoing and direct feedback to health and well-being, youth, aquatic, and member services leadership.
  • Responsible for shifts and department coverage that can vary depending on the lack of coverage needs.
  • Meet performance measurement by telling the Y story and raising charitable dollars to fulfill our mission.
  • Assist staff leadership team in reaching campaign goals through recruiting campaigners, making personal asks and supporting branch events.
  • Develop relationships with members; capture and share the Y story.
