An exciting opportunity to join a progressive YMCA located in vibrant Somerset County, New Jersey. Under the direction of the Branch Executive Director, the Associate Branch Executive Director is responsible for promoting, developing, and managing all activities associated with our Franklin YMCA. Primary responsibilities include ensuring the delivery of high quality, safe, YMCA programming in a nurturing environment. Developing and maintaining yearly budgets and establishing and sustaining positive relationships with community members, program participants, families and prospective members. Hiring, training, and providing continuous support and feedback to staff. Additional responsibilities include driving fundraising activities, coordinating special events as necessary and responding to member & community enquiries in a timely manner.
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Recreation, or related field
3 plus years’ experience in coordinating and structuring youth programs for school age children in an after-school setting and summer camp.
Experience in hiring and supervising staff, possess superior leadership and interpersonal skills, have the ability to interact with membership as well as good administrative skills.
Flexibility in work schedule and expectations to work some early mornings and evenings.
Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification or obtain within 30 days of hire.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office is required as well as good administrative skills.
YMCA Team Leader or Multi-Team/Branch Leader certification preferred.
Excellent organizational, member engagement, staff development and communication skills
Has solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel as well as good administrative skills.
Ensures high-quality community-focused programs through innovative program development, demonstrating courageous and intelligent risk-taking with awareness of societal, economic, and political issues and their impact on the strategic direction of the organization. Prioritizes strategic initiatives such as expanding programming and footprint in Franklin community.
Hire, train and provide continuous support and feedback to program staff.
Establishes and sustains positive relationships with program participants, their families and prospective members.
Ensures all programs are continuously maintaining the guidelines for a safe, educational, social and nurturing environment as set by the YMCA and other regulatory organizations.
Develops, implements, and manages operating plans to promote program expansion. Measures progress against strategic goals and ensures continuous improvement.
Develop and maintain yearly budgets.
Responds to child and family inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
Oversee all aspects of running Franklin branch offering including but not limited to summer camp and before and after school programs.
Supervise all staff, and in the day-to-day operations of all programs.
Ensures compliance with state and local regulations. Ensures that program standards are met, and safety procedures are followed.
Develops and controls department budgets related to the position so that resources are devoted to top priorities and strategic objectives. Provides accurate and timely reporting of financial data, grants, program revenue, etc.
Uses data to analyze financial trends and forecast future financial progress for the organization.
Oversee all branch & program-specific training requirements for program staff. Ensure a safe, supportive and inclusive environment for all participants.
Oversee all staff training sessions/meetings year-round.
Work cooperatively with staff in increasing their leadership capabilities.
Ensure that all equipment and supplies are being properly used, maintained, and returned to their place when done be used.
Manage and maintain subsidy billing, to include contract management and Daxko entry.
Manage and maintain all licenses for Franklin operations.
Work with staff and volunteers to meet Community Teams Division recruitment and financial goals.
Identify and cultivate major donors for all levels of fundraising including major gifts, sponsorships and capital.
Develop and support a year-round fundraising program that includes the annual current support campaign. Acts as the Branch Executive Director in the absence of the Executive Director, handling approvals, emergency decisions, and urgent matters
Performs other duties as assigned by the Branch Executive Director.

Utilizes non-threatening methods to address sensitive issues and inappropriate behavior or performance. Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills required to perform well; uses best practices and demonstrates up-to-date knowledge and skills in technology.
