Job Description

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Oversees the development and operations of various programs, such as Before & After School, Summer Day Camp, School’s Day Out and STRONG Kids. Recruits, trains and support assigned staff.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree related to youth development or education preferred.
  • Four or more years of relevant experience working with children under the age of 13 in an educational setting, including at least two years in an administrative supervisory capacity with demonstrated decision making ability preferred.
  • Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, program development and fund-raising.
  • Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations.
  • Proven track record of developing authentic and deepened relationships with others.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications may be required.
Essential Functions
  1. Develops, implements, and manages operating plans to promote program and membership growth for the YMCA. Executes strategies to ensure that members and program participants connect with one another and connect with the YMCA.
  2. In partnership with the school age assistants and school site coordinators, monitor and promote student recruitment, ensuring optimal enrollment at all times.
  3. Prepare and monitor staff schedules at all times, modifying them as necessary to maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios.
  4. Coordinate with school’s administration, teachers, and other community partnerships to successfully implement the programs.
  5. Administer the day-to-day operation of the afterschool, school’s day out, STRONG Kids and summer day camp program, ensuring that all the program components are implemented.
  6. Facilitate integration of the YMCA afterschool program into the overall school culture in collaboration with school leadership.
  7. Evaluate program quality and fidelity, implementing necessary steps to remedy weaknesses according to Y-USA measurement and evaluation guidelines.
  8. Develops and controls department budgets related to the position.
  9. Hires, trains, and supervises staff and volunteers in assigned areas. Facilitates communication and provides leadership. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
  10.  Assures compliance with state and local regulations. Ensures that program standards are met and safety procedures are followed.
  11.  Ensures high quality member-focused programs through innovative program development, evaluations and on-going training of staff.
  12.  Coordinates special events and activities.
  13.  Performs other duties as assigned.
