Salary Range: $60,405 Annually and a Free YMCA Membership
Under the general direction of the Executive Director the Aquatics Director is responsible for the administration and direction of all aquatic programming. This position will function as a member of the total staff team in developing community relations, lay committees and long-range planning as well as the interpretation of YMCA programming to the public. The position is responsible for demonstrating YMCA leadership competencies to ensure the mission, purpose, image and core values of the YMCA of Greater Rochester is conveyed.
This position requires a high school diploma or GED and a full range of knowledge in instructional and competitive aqautics. A bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Physical Education or related field preferred.
Five years’ experience implementing and managing high quality and large volume programs.
At least three years’ experience in a supervisory role with skills in recruiting, training and staff management.
Must be self-motivated, hands on team leader with strong communications, networking and collaboration skills.
High level of attention to detail and quality of programming, service and facilities.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage several projects at once and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Polished, professional demeanor with excellent written and spoken communication skills.
Demonstrated success in driving revenue and managing expenses.
Experience in fundraising and individual gift solicitation and cultivation
Must have current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Lifeguard, Standard First Aid, and O2 administration certifications. Lifeguard and extensive Swim Lesson experience required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to stand for extended duration of shift.
Must be able to bend and stoop frequently.
Must be able to lift at least twenty-five pounds.
Must be able to stay in the pool for an extended period of time.
Must be able to communicate verbally, including projecting voice across distances, and communicate swiftly and effectively with emergency personnel in person and over the telephone.
Must be able to hear noises and distress signals in an aquatic environment, including in the water, understanding that significant background noise in aquatic space.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Overall responsibility for all aquatic’s programs, and services at the Corning branch. This includes summer day camp, group rentals, and special events.
Responsible for hiring, training, supervision, and continued development of program staff.
Act as a liaison between parent and program regarding parent or participant concerns and work as the key leader to assure that a safe, fun and quality program is provided in all areas.
General oversight of all on site programs in accordance with the policies, values, and standards established by the Association.
Responsible for assisting with the financial development of Annual Campaign.
Responsible for facilitating department revenue growth and overall enhancement and increase of the aquatic’s programs and services.
Responsible for the overall facility appearance, and related equipment including proper maintenance of pool, hot tub etc.
Accountable for department budget development and management. Ensure a strong fiscal position and appropriate resource allocation.
Ensure all program operations are consistent with Association procedures, including pool maintenance, emergency, accident, purchasing, personnel, and accounting systems. Ensure department is adhering to NYS Health Code, Emergency Action Plans, and Association Safety Policy.
Implement programs that identify safety, quality, and excellent customer service as top priorities.
Serve as a member of the branch staff team, assisting with special events, programming, and committees as assigned.
Maintain and further develops contacts with community agencies, corporations, and potential donors.
Work with branch board members, volunteers, and committees as necessary.
Maintain all required certifications.
Attend all required meetings and training.
