Job Description

The Senior Program Director manages the development, and evaluation of various program areas and/or membership. Areas of focus may be health/wellness, aquatics, teens, childcare, and/or other programs. Recruits, trains, onboards and supports assigned staff and volunteers. Additional responsibilities include hiring, payroll functionality, and training of staff and volunteers, curriculum development and evaluation, budget management, and adhering to all regulatory and Association standards. Provides liaison to committee(s) and advisory board(s) and takes a leadership role in mission advancement activities. Responsible for oversight of multiple departments and associated team members. Position takes into account the size, scope, and budget of the departments and/or branch volume in classification.

Qualifications

What You'll Need

  • Four-year college degree in related field or equivalent experience required
  • Minimum of three years of YMCA experience-related experience within another organization preferred
  • Three years of supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience directing programs through supervision of volunteers and staff required
  • Previous experience with diverse populations  
  • YMCA Team Leader certification preferred
  • Must be fluent in spoken and written English
  • Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire

Essential Functions

What You’ll Do

  • Develops implements, manages, and uses data to evaluate operating plans to promote programs and/or membership growth for the YMCA. Develops and supports strategies to ensure that members and/or program participants connect with one another and connect with the YMCA.  
  • Responsible for the oversight and evaluation of multiple programs. Program delivery duties as needed.
  • Develops and controls department budgets related to the position.
  • Hires, trains, and supervises assigned staff along with volunteers in assigned areas.  
  • Facilitates communication and provides leadership.
  • Ensures accurate completion of all payroll functionality for assigned staff including but not limited to timecard approvals, changes and scheduling of assigned staff.
  • Takes leadership role for branch mission advancement and/or volunteer activities.
  • Assures compliance with state and local regulations.  
  • Ensures that program and Association standards and policies are met, and safety procedures are followed.
  • Ensures high quality programs through innovative program development, data-driven evaluations and ongoing training of staff and volunteers.
  • Coordinates special events and activities.
  • Provide data, rosters, schedules, and reports as required for assigned programs. Establishes and maintains
  • collaborations with community organizations.
  • Ensures compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
