POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the COO, the ideal candidate will direct the total operation of the branch including membership, programs, and facilities. In addition, lead board, staff and volunteer development, community relations, financial development, and collaborations in accordance with association policy, procedure, and strategy. A high level of enthusiasm and energy is required as well as the ability to navigate through fast paced and lofty expectations of a high-performing branch while aligning branch and association expectations.
1. Bachelor's degree in business, management, or related field.
2. Five or more years of successful management experience including leadership of full-time staff teams, preferably in a YMCA Association.
3. Ability to manage multiple departments while aligning all to overall goals of the association.
4. A strong business acumen is required in membership growth, program development and earned income production as it relates to expense control.
5. Ability to direct total operations through fiscal management, board relations, volunteer development, staff supervision and effective communication and leadership strategies.
6. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community leaders and organizations; ability to recruit top community leaders and donors to the board positioning the Y as the premier community organization.
7. Verified success in fundraising is required.
8. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of
the community.
9. Proven track record of being a cause driven leader.
10. YMCA Multi-Team or Branch Leader certification preferred.
11. CPR and First Aid certifications required within 6 months of hire.
1. Serves as a member of the Association Leadership team and supports the overall objectives of the association.
2. Performs as a role model for other directors, promoting staff development, mentorship, and strong stewardship of YMCA resources.
3. Directs, manages, and monitors the branch operating budget and meets or exceeds budget targets by growing membership, developing programs, and controlling expenses.
4. Coordinates the development of the branch Board of Managers and committees. Directs the volunteer activities (policy and program) of the branch.
5. Develops and implements the annual operating plan of the branch.
6. Leads the financial development activities of the branch including annual campaign and fundraising special events such as the Tri County Y sport shoot.
7. Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities. Develops, maintains, and models collaborative relationships with key stakeholders.
8. Oversees the hiring, training, and supervision of exempt-level and/or full-time staff.
9. Creates a culture of high-quality relationship-based member engagement strategies.
10. Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs which support the Y mission, goals, and strategies.
11. Ensures the safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities, grounds, and equipment.
12. Works in conjunction with association marketing and communication staff efforts to effectively communicate benefit to the community.
