Springfield College is currently seeking a Director for YMCA Relations.
Job Description

Under the Executive Director of the Center for Service and Leadership, the Director for YMCA Relations at Springfield College provides leadership, coordination, and collaborative direction to the partnership and programs jointly conducted for students by the YMCA of the USA and Springfield College. This position provides specific support to student recruitment, YMCA Hall of Fame activities, academic and student affairs, alumni activities and the management of a YMCA Programs Office at Springfield College.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required with 3+ years of directly related experience.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Any combination of training, experience, and/or education equivalent to five years of progressively responsible full time, paid, secretarial or office management experience within the last ten years. Advanced secretarial courses are desired.

  • Experience working within a YMCA.
  • Modern office methods and procedures and the use of standard office equipment.
  • Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Broad knowledge and understanding of College environment and practices.
  • Information research, analysis, and evaluation skills. 
  • Project management skills and the ability to resolve complex problems and issues.
  • Budget preparation and management.
  • Ability to compose routine and specialized correspondence and reports using proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary with superior proficiency.
  • Operate standard office equipment including microcomputers and related software applications.
  • Ability to work across and between stakeholder groups.

Essential Functions

Responsibilities

Provide leadership to the Office of YMCA Relations while also providing leadership in the areas of student recruitment for Springfield College and those who want to have YMCA careers with a focus on the Northeast Corridor YMCAs.

Develop, design and implement student programs designed to attract and retain diverse students to the YMCA as a career.  This includes advising the YMCA Club and Leadership Summit, and working collaboratively with local and regional YMCA's to provide community service and professional development opportunities for students through attendance at conferences, professional meetings and other programs.

Recruit a diverse group of students to a YMCA curriculum (including the YMCA minor) that will prepare them for working in today’s YMCA. Identify opportunities and provide career counseling for internships, summer placements and YMCA career placements.

Work collaboratively with the Y-USA to coordinate the Hall of Fame program.  Facilitate the nomination and selection process, assist with recruitment of Hall of Fame nominees, conduct information gathering and record-keeping for each nominee and attend the General Assembly to assist with the Hall of Fame awards program.

Assist with building partnerships between YMCA's and the Springfield College Regional and Online Continuing Education Program to enhance opportunities for YMCA working professionals to obtain degrees through the college.

Serve as academic liaison, coach and mentor to students to provide connections to various majors, minors and YMCA careers.

Teach academic courses as needed.
