Job Description

Introduction & Alliance Purpose and Impact: At the Y, strengthening community is our cause. Every day in our local communities, we seek to make a difference in the lives of every New Jerseyan.  The Alliance exists to support the efforts of each and every Y and help them thrive. Our purpose is to do the following:

·        Leverage our collective impact.

·        Lobby, advocate, and educate on behalf of all New Jersey Ys. Be a voice and representative of all New Jersey Ys.

·        Support, drive, provide resources, and ensure all Ys have what they need to be successful.

·        Provide strategic support in key areas that are important to advancing the movement.

·        Foster New Jersey Ys’ interdependence by supporting statewide collaboration, learning, initiatives, and programming.

·        Elevate the Y as the charity of choice in New Jersey

·        Work with the Alliance staff to increase support and capacity for statewide funding for YMCAs.

The New Jersey YMCA State Alliance unites and supports Ys of all sizes to strengthen and leverage our impact through consensus building, advocacy, and strategic work.

Qualifications

·        Bachelor’s degree

·        Organizational Leadership certification required, or achieved within three years

·        5 or more years’ experience leading or consulting in non-profit environments

·        Skilled and experienced in Performance Consulting Methodology (Partner, Assess, Implement, & Measure)

·        Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time

·        Extensive background developing and delivering strategic processes in core essential functions

·        Strong interpersonal, verbal/written communication and presentation skills

·        Analytical and problem-solving skills

·        Possess a proven ability to establish and maintain collaborative partnerships across a broad range of stakeholders

·        Demonstrates strong leadership competencies listed in the Cause-Driven Leadership section.

Essential Functions

·        Provide strategic services to Ys within a designated portfolio within the New Jersey YMCA State Alliance

·        Lead, Facilitate, & Support:

o   Strategic Planning

o   Board Governance

o   Shared Services/Management Agreements/Mergers

o   Networking & Relationship Building

o   Praesidium and Child Safety

·        Assist in implementation of, support & guide:

o   CEO Search Assistance

o   CEO/CVO Onboarding

o   Capital Development Planning (Readiness & Planning/Pre-funding)

o   Early Intervention for struggling YMCAs
