The YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee is seeking a new visionary and dynamic President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead its mission-driven organization. As one of the oldest and largest charities in the region, the Y serves over 50,000+ individuals annually through a wide range of impactful programs, including early childhood education, senior services, sports, education, fitness, health interventions, and more.
The President & CEO of the YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee plays a pivotal role in leading the organization toward its mission of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the CEO will be responsible for:
1. Visionary Leadership: Develop and drive a long-term vision that keeps the YMCA at the forefront of addressing community needs, including education, affordable childcare, health interventions, and social equity.
2. Community Engagement: Serve as the face of the YMCA in the Greater Milwaukee area, building trust, partnerships, and a strong presence within the community.
3. Operational Excellence: Ensure that the YMCA operates efficiently, meeting financial targets and maintaining strong organizational processes. Identify and address any operational challenges or risks.
4. Strategic Direction: Lead the development and execution of the Y’s strategic goals, ensuring that programs are impactful, sustainable, and aligned with the organization’s core values.
5. Financial Stewardship: Oversee fundraising efforts, ensuring the financial health of the organization through careful resource management and securing funding to support programs.
6. Culture and Innovation: Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and innovative organizational culture, ensuring that the YMCA remains adaptable to evolving community needs.
The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader with a deep commitment to service, a passion for community transformation, and proven experience in leadership, fundraising, and strategic partnership-building. They should have a strong understanding of the diverse needs of the community, along with the ability to navigate complex challenges while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President & CEO will serve as the face of the YMCA in the Greater Milwaukee area, inspiring community trust and advancing the YMCA’s cause of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

· Bachelor’s degree in business administration, nonprofit management, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
· Minimum of 10 years of senior leadership experience, preferably a CEO in the YMCA or nonprofit sector.
· Proven success in strategic planning, board development, fundraising, fiscal management, and community engagement.
· Demonstrated ability to lead multi-site operations and manage diverse teams effectively.
· Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity, with the ability to develop an inclusive organizational culture.
· Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and collaboration skills.
· Knowledge of YMCA’s global mission and the ability to articulate and advocate for its cause effectively.
· Certification from YMCA of the USA as an Organizational Leader must be obtained within three years after starting the CEO position.

· Lead with innovation, addressing emerging community needs and ensuring the organization remains adaptable and impactful.
2. Community Engagement:
· Build and nurture strong relationships with government, corporate, nonprofit, and community leaders.
· Represent the YMCA in public forums to enhance its visibility, deepen partnerships, and expand its community impact.
3. Philanthropic Leadership:
· Spearhead fundraising efforts by cultivating relationships with donors, volunteers, and key community leaders.
· Foster a culture of philanthropy within the organization to secure financial resources, ensuring both immediate and long-term sustainability.
4. Operational and Fiscal Management:
· Oversee the financial health of the YMCA and manage operations across multiple sites, ensuring efficiency, accountability, and alignment with organizational goals.
· Lead the team to meet or exceed performance benchmarks while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
5. Inclusive Leadership and Talent Development:
· Foster an inclusive, cause-driven workplace culture that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion.
· Invest in staff and volunteer development, helping them realize their full potential and align their efforts with the YMCA's mission.
6. Change Management:
· Champion organizational change, aligning structures, systems, and processes to meet evolving community needs and opportunities.
· Drive sustainable growth and maintain operational effectiveness during periods of change and adaptation.
7. Emotional Maturity and Integrity:
· Lead with emotional intelligence, humility, and ethical principles, building trust and collaboration across all levels of the organization and the community.
· Promote transparency and integrity in all decision-making processes.
