Job Description

The Associate Executive Director will be responsible for the oversight of member service initiatives, program development and support, and community service programs.

The Associate Executive Director will be responsible for evaluating existing programs to determine appropriate integration into the YMCA service model, will supervise program directors and assist in all member service and program related planning.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field with a minimum of 5 years of related experience. 
  • Experience working in a YMCA management position, will have had direct responsibility for member service and program development, have strong knowledge of and experience managing fitness, group exercise, aquatics programming, and family service activities and be willing to work within a new and developing service centered model.
  • Demonstrated success in membership/staff development  
  • Strong knowledge in fitness, group exercise and program development/innovation 
  • Experience in developing and motivating volunteers 
  • Demonstrated ability in fiscal management  
Essential Functions
  • Recruit, train, schedule, supervise and recognize a staff team that delivers on our mission through membership and program engagement strategies. 
  • Assist with defining, delegating and oversight of branch membership & program committees.  Ensure annual chart of work, calendar, agenda and minutes published for each committee consistent with the Branch Board direction.  Attend all Branch Board Meetings.  
  • Be accountable for revenue generation and expense controls and adherence to policies and procedures. Effectively utilize resources in membership and program development, fund raising and planning. 
  • Model, and teach, Listen First skills to create an environment of relationship development and a culture focused on the wants and needs of the members.   Listen First trainer level expected within the first year of employment.  
  • Develop and implement high quality programs that meet the needs of the community, engage members in Y activities and connect members to each other. Foster relationships and collaborations to promote high quality programs and services.   
  • Create a culture of accountability to ensure staff is engaged at all levels of the organization with the focus of providing “great” experiences for all members.   
  • Monitor trends and developments in membership engagement, relationship development, and retention strategies and staff competence to ensure that branch continues to deliver on key member impact results.   
  • Serve as member of Membership Quality Team/Executive Operations Team, representing leadership in Association-wide programs, including staff supervision, program quality assurance and policy development.  
  • Create a member-centered environment and build member engagement, involvement and connections. Implement policies and procedures that ensure overall member satisfaction.
