The Staten Island – Counseling Service YMCA is seeking a Counselor who will be responsible for providing care to a designated caseload, including provision of direct individual, group and family sessions, coordination of specialized program services, and management of the caseload.

Qualifications
  • CASAC-T, CASAC Provisional, CASAC (any level). MHC, MSW, MFT, MHC-LP, MSW-LP, MFT-LP, LMSW, LMHC, LCSW preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of substance use treatment experience.
  • Knowledge of Substance Use Disorder Counseling and the Criminal Justice & Child Welfare Systems.
  • Knowledge of motivational interviewing and trauma informed care.
  • Knowledge of mental health, CBT, and other evidence-based treatment modalities preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred.
Essential Functions
  • Facilitate sessions including, but not limited to, outreach/engagement activities, group, individual, family, crisis intervention, case management and referrals.
  • Conduct screenings and assessments and determine the appropriate level of care, treatment planning, and discharge planning.
  • Participate in diagnostic and treatment plan development in consultation with the Clinical Supervisor. 
  • Coordinate the care and case management for the designated caseload: completing ongoing reporting, outreach, referrals, and dialogue with professionals working with the caseload.
  • Participate in team meetings, individual/group supervision, community coalition meetings, and identified training opportunities.
  • Fiscal Management: attendance management, census administration, retention of cases, family support, fee collection, and outreach presentations.
  • Conduct urine toxicology screens.
  • Maintain superior Quality Assurance and program Quality, contract and regulation compliance, and fulfillment of clinical standards and best practices.
  • Timely and comprehensively complete all related documentation.
  • Will serve as the Manager on Duty (MOD) when requested/approved in the absence of the on-site supervisors. 
  • Serve as the Task Supervisor to interns/volunteers when appropriate.
  • Will serve as the alternate Clinician for clients in the absence of colleagues.
  • Other duties as assigned.
