Area Amenities and Community Benefits
As the proud home of the YMCA of the Inland Northwest, Spokane reflects the best of what it means to live in harmony with both nature and urban culture. Spokane’s motto, Near Nature, Near Perfect, resonates deeply with all of us who live, work, and play in this incredible city. With seventy-six lakes, three ski resorts, and miles of scenic trails such as the Spokane River Centennial Trail, we are fortunate to have outdoor activities to enjoy year-round. Manito Park’s Conservatory and formal gardens offer tranquility, while our four golf courses and eighty-seven neighborhood parks ensure everyone has a place to explore.
Beyond the beauty of the outdoors, Spokane offers enriching indoor discoveries. From the cultural treasures at the Museum of Arts and Culture and Mobius Discovery Center to performances at iconic venues like The Bing Crosby Theater and the Spokane Symphony’s home at The Fox, our city brims with opportunities for art, history, and entertainment. And Spokane’s thriving culinary scene is something to savor, with award-winning chefs bringing their talent to our local dining tables.
As a community, Spokane has always been home to trailblazing moments and significant firsts. The annual Lilac Bloomsday Run remains one of the largest timed road races in the world, while Spokane also proudly hosts the largest 3-on-3 basketball tournament globally. We were the first in the nation to have a YMCA-YWCA partnership, demonstrating our community’s commitment to inclusion and collaboration. And let us not forget the Y’s special honor of being the birthplace of Father’s Day.
Spokane, the second largest city in Washington, boasts the perfect blend of big-city amenities with a small-town heart. While we have all the conveniences and attractions of a major metropolitan area, we still maintain the warmth and values that make Spokane feel like one big family.
At the YMCA of the Inland Northwest, we are proud to be part of this extraordinary community, continuing our mission of fostering youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Together, let us continue to grow, thrive, and celebrate the best of what Spokane has to offer.
