The Riverbrook Regional YMCA seeks a Director of Human Resources to provide leadership in Human Resources for our organization.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Human Resources is responsible for all human resources functions, plans, and procedures to serve staff and volunteers in areas such as employment, employee relations, compensation, HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems), Workers Compensation, disability and unemployment programs, retirement and benefit plans, legal compliance, training and personnel policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources or equivalent and 3-5 years of experience as a Human Resources Generalist. A Master’s Degree in a related field preferred.

- Computer literacy with Payroll software (Paycom preferred), Daxko Operations and Accounting, Y Retirement Fund, Docusign, Revver, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook.
Essential Functions
- Develops and implements HR department goals, objectives, and systems.
- Creates a vibrant cause-centered culture for staff and volunteers.
- Participates in strategic planning for the organization. Provides leadership and consulting support to executives and management on matters of reinforcing culture, setting goals, developing policy, and implementing strategic objectives. Aligns organizational structure, roles, and responsibilities to achieve goals.
- Administers compensation programs; monitors performance evaluation programs and revises as needed. Provides guidance to managerial staff regarding compensation review and scales.
- Works closely with our Benefits Administration companies, CFO and Chief Executive Officer to annually review and select appropriate Health and Dental Plans for employees. Acts as liaison between our Benefits Administration Companies and employees. Assists employees with plan questions and communicates benefits information to employees.
- Manages annual open enrollment and new hire enrollment in collaboration with our Benefits Administration Companies and our HRIS software system. This process includes annually updating our HRIS system with Benefit plans information, employer and employee costs, updating internal communication emails. Assists employees with completion and submission of necessary forms and processing within required deadlines.
- Manages health and welfare plans which include Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, CT Paid Leave, by processing required documents through our Benefits Administration Companies, state agencies to ensure accurate record keeping. Coordinates COBRA benefits with our Benefits Administration Companies. Acts as a liaison with brokers and carriers.
- Under Affordable Care Act guidelines, selects the tracking period for the Riverbrook Regional YMCA and then tracks Full Time Equivalent employees to maintain compliance.
- Maintains the Human Resource Information system records, prepares reports, maintains all personnel related records, and provides HR information and news to all Directors.
- Works in conjunction with the Early Childhood and School Age Development Director to obtain and maintain the Praesidium Accreditation representing our commitment to abuse prevention.
- Acts as Administrator for Praesidium and HIPAA Training software platforms.
- Handles employee relations counseling, disciplinary assistance to supervisors and exit interviewing.
- Revises the Riverbrook Regional YMCA Employee Handbook to include all updated or new legal compliance, benefits and organizational policies annually or biannually. Distributes to staff electronically highlighting areas of importance for their review, understanding, and signature.
- Attends HR related meetings and attends viable seminars to keep up to date on all HR issues, legal compliances, and possible changes in Labor Law.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending education workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in relevant professional societies.
- Maintains organization charts.
- Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations. Ensures timely and accurate submission of data requested by EEOC, YMCA of the USA, Department of Labor, OSHA. U.S. Department of Labor Statistics, Bureau of Labor Statistics- JOLTS and Multi-site worksheet Reports etc. Manages relationships with compliance agencies and YMCA legal counsel. Educates and reports State and Federal changes in HR law to YMCA leadership and managers.
- Works with employees on reasonable requests under the ADA.
- Manages the bi-weekly payroll process. This includes accurate processing of payroll for 150 – 350 employees, ensuring compliance with all CT and federal laws and regulations.
- Performs end of year functions such as W-2’s and 1095c forms for employees in a timely and accurate manner.
- Acts as Administrator for the Y Retirement Fund. Enroll eligible Y employees, terminate Y employees, enter 403b enrollment and Roth IRA enrollment in YERDI and in the Y HRIS system.
- Handles payroll changes inclusive of pay rates, salaries, minimum wage, exempt threshold, new hires, terminations etc.
- Collaborates with Camp Management to annually devise the Camp Staff employment application, camp staff hiring process, onboarding, and background check process utilized by the Office of Early Childhood.
- Manages staff changes and inputs necessary transactions.
- Stewards staff satisfaction and annual survey.
- Designs, develops, and conducts New Employee Orientations to ensure that new employees gain a thorough understanding of the YMCA’s mission, culture, and directives as well as pertinent rules and regulations required by YMCA employees as well as benefits available to them.
- Assesses and evaluates training and staff development needs and develops programs to meet needs. Assists with training and development of staff.
- Arranges to bring in speakers and/or eventson topics vital to staff education: Previous speakers have included- LGBTQ and Domestic Violence.
- Designs and develops a New Hire Process, Re-Hire process and revises as needed.
- Manages the Y HRIS./Payroll management software and other related hiring/ employee records software such as Docusign, Revver, background check system.
- Performs recruitment activities working closely with Departmental Directors and consulting in hiring practices and policies.
- Develops guidelines, interview practices and questions to serve as recommendations for Directors and hiring supervisors to follow when interviewing and hiring candidates for positions within their departments.
- Works closely with Departmental Directors and Chief Executive Officer to create and modify job descriptions for positions at the Riverbrook Regional YMCA.
- Responsible for Workers Compensation reporting and monitoring with Department Supervisors and Workers Compensation Carrier.
- Responds to Unemployment and Disability claims and provides counseling to employees and supervisors. Acts as liaison in Unemployment Appeals with the Department of Labor.
- Acts as intermediary in employee relations matters and makes recommendations regarding disciplinary actions.
- Develops positive working relationships with Departmental Directors and staff and provides motivational support and guidance.
- Serves on the Senior Staff team and advises association leaders on organizational matters related to human resources.
- Serves as a resource and participates as a member of various staff committees and groups.
- Serve as representative for the Riverbrook Regional YMCA in the CT/RI HR Alliance.
Required Certifications
· SHRM or HRCI certification preferred.
