Job Description
The Invensys Foxboro Branch of the Hockomock Area YMCA is hiring an Assistant Youth Program Director to oversee and lead a variety of youth-related, school-age, and teen programs throughout multiple departments. During the summer with some off season responsibilities, this position serves as an Assistant Camp Director. During the school year, this position is responsible for the administration, coaching, and teaching in the Gymnastics, Dance, and Enrichment departments. The schedule includes some nights and one weekend day to support Gymnastics, Enrichment, Dance, and additional youth program department areas. The Assistant Youth Program Director must love to work with children in a variety of programs and settings. This is a well-rounded role that provides experiences across a wide variety of departments to provide a solid foundation for a Y career.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in recreation, education, or a related field
- 2-3 years of work experience with children, gymnastics, dance, camp, and/or arts & enrichment
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to support youth programming and camp
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to effectively handle conflict situations with children and adults
- Excellent problem-solving skills and demonstrates superior judgement
- Certification in First Aid and CPR within 30 days; lifeguarding and ropes course certification strongly encouraged
- Ability to work independently and professionally
Essential Functions
- Responsible for the administration and coaching/instruction of youth programs (Gymnastics, Dance, Enrichment), including:

- Evaluating, hiring, training, and supervising staff
- Establishing new program activities and expanding programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans
- Promoting programs
- Managing budgets
- Monitoring, training, and recruiting volunteers
- In coordination with the Camp Leadership Team & Camp Director, provides direct hands-on programming for camp, including:
- Recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising staff to plan and develop a successful Camp program
- Planning and implementing activities, trips, and special camp events
- Preparing camp related information and promotion before and during camp season
- Ensuring camp is safe and well maintained
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, organizing, and promoting program registrations
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations
- Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives
- Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events
- Models relationship-building skills in all interactions, responding to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner
- Participates in Association-wide Program meetings, events, and trainings
