Job Description

The Aquatics Director at Tidelands Health Georgetown Family YMCA intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined while also managing high-quality, member-focused aquatics programs. Under the direction of the Executive Branch Director and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the Aquatics Director provides hands-on leadership for the day-to-day administration in accordance with all YMCA and state and licensing requirements for the Aquatics and Swim Team Departments.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.
  • YMCA Team Leader certification preferred.
  • One to two years’ related experience preferred (e.g., as an aquatics coordinator or supervisor).
  • Minimum age of 21.
  • Completion of all Redwoods and YMCA aquatics training and trainer certifications.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Commitment to belonging and compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Child Abuse Prevention supports the YMCA’s commitment to child abuse prevention by:

  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and assigned Redwoods trainings within 30 days of

Essential Functions
  • Ensure programs and services meet community needs to include supervising existing program activities, establishing new program activities, and expanding the program within the community as needed. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
  • Directs and provides hands-on leadership for aquatics programs, including developing and monitoring the program budget to meet fiscal objectives; compiling program statistics to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in programs; securing and scheduling the pool facilities; along with creating and scheduling the classes, swim team practices and swim meets.
  • Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local, and YMCA health and safety regulations and ensures proper maintenance of pools. Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance.
  • Recruit and hire diverse staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity. Onboards and develops them for success. Conducts lifeguarding, swimming instruction, First Aid and CPR training. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.
  • Conducts monthly staff aquatic drills and in-service training as required by aquatics safety plan.
  • Completes and approves department payroll, schedules, and annual reviews in a timely manner.
  • Develops, maintains, and distributes the pool schedule that meets the needs of members and programs. 
  • Provides staff leadership for the annual fundraising campaign and committees as assigned.
  • Models’ relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.   Responds to all members and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Assists with assigned Board Committee(s) and Association Quality Team(s). Works with association staff to ensure all aquatic programs are running in accordance with YMCA of Coastal Carolina standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
