Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 Annually

The YMCA of Greater New York is seeking a motivated Human Resources Generalist to join our passionate Human Resources team at the Association Office. This role will report to the Senior Executive of Employee Relations and Talent Acquisition and the SVP of Human Resources. This role will work closely with internal partners across all YMCA of Greater New York branches.

The Human Resources Generalist will provide project support to different areas of the HR team, including employee relations, talent acquisition, learning and development, benefits, compensation, and HRIS. The Human Resources Generalist will play a key role in contributing to ongoing and new initiatives.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of Human Resources experience.
  • Knowledge of HRIS and Applicant Tracking Systems, preferably Workday and Sterling.
  • Knowledge of Human Resources procedures and policies, as well as city, state, and federal laws and guidelines.
  • Strong presentation skills to facilitate training and/or deliver informational sessions to groups and/or individuals.
  • Advanced knowledge of HRIS with a demonstrated ability to learn new technical systems.
  • Ability to source candidates from job boards and professional websites and support recruitment efforts.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Essential Functions
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to understand their hiring needs, support writing clear and concise job descriptions, and utilize various sourcing strategies to attract qualified candidates. Partner with the Talent Acquisition team to screen resumes, conduct interviews, and play a key role in onboarding.
  • Responsible for updating employee guides and policies, ensuring clear communication of association expectations and procedures.
  • Stay informed of federal, state, and local employment law changes. Proactively identify and mitigate compliance risks through periodic internal audits.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, offering an open door for employees to voice concerns and seek support.
  • Maintain focus while adapting to changing priorities, multitasking, and ensuring professional communication.
  • Manage and update employee data as needed.
  • Assist HR managers and other personnel within the human resources team on projects as needed.
