Position Description

The Noble County Family YMCA Board of Directors is seeking a dynamic, strategic, and community-driven leader to serve as its next Chief Executive Officer (CEO). As CEO, you will lead an organization that is a cornerstone of Perry, Oklahoma, delivering essential programs and services that foster youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. In partnership with the Board of Directors, you will set and execute a strategic vision that aligns with the needs of the Noble County community. Qualifications

Criteria for candidates:

1. Accredited 4-year college degree or equivalent business experience.

2. Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and personal values consistent with the YMCA mission.

3. Minimum five years prior experience in a senior management role with a YMCA or related experience at a comparable organization with direct supervision of multiple levels of staff and employees.

4. Must be able to develop and strengthen community relationships.

5. Have the ability to develop innovative programs, review and enhance programs being offered or considered for both economy and the effectiveness in broadening our engagement in the communities in which we serve.

6. Strategic planning and fundraising experience including annual campaigns and the securing of grants.

7. Fiscally sound business management approach.

8. A proven record of accomplishment of budgetary leadership and fiscal management practices.

9. YMCA Organizational Leader Certification or ability to achieve within 3 years.

Essential Functions

Key Performance Objectives 

Maintenance and Development of Facilities (Capital Development): Lead the YMCA through stages of a current or future capital development project, whether it’s initial planning, research and viability; architectural and schematic design phases; construction management; or the operational start-up of your new, renovated, or expanded facility. Improve Operating Performance: Engage the board and appropriate staff to develop an annual tactical plan for identifying and achieving key goals and objectives towards operating with safe, relevant, and sustainable practices. Quickly address issues that may arise, forecast future needs, and manage and direct the YMCA’s operations and activities. Key competencies: Developing Self & Others, Critical Thinking & Decision Making, Innovation.

Develop and Implement a Strategic Plan: Work effectively with volunteers, community leaders, and key staff, to create and develop a strategic plan that addresses the needs of the communities served by the YMCA and includes defined organizational strategies, a clear implementation plan with deliverables, and measurable goals. Key competencies: Change Leadership, Communication & Influence, Critical Thinking & Decision Making, Program/Project Management.

Fiscal Management: Use high-level financial analysis to forecast financial trends, growth and stability, while consistently leading the organization to balance our surplus operations by growing earned revenue and contributions and controlling costs. Create and closely monitor the annual budget to meet the cash flow needs of the organization.  Empower and guide staff leaders to lead their departments to successful financial operation. Position the YMCA as a Vital Partner for Community Change: Serve as an ambassador for the mission, purpose, and vision for the YMCA within the community. Ensure the YMCA is seen as a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community by connecting all people to their potential, purpose, and each other. Noble County Family YMCA Facts

The Noble County Family YMCA was established in March 1979 as a community initiative and became an official charter member of the YMCA of the USA in 1980. It originally operated out of a small facility known as the Annex, which opened in November 1980 and served as its home base for several years.

A major milestone came in 1986 with the opening of the Main Building, a full-service YMCA featuring an indoor swimming pool, full-size gymnasium, weight and cardio rooms, locker rooms, and administrative offices. The original Annex was repurposed for childcare, youth fitness, arts programs, and community activities.

Over the decades, the Noble County Family YMCA has grown into a vital hub for the community, serving nearly 3,000 individuals annually. It remains one of the smallest full-service YMCAs in the country, yet it continues to offer a broad range of impactful programs, thanks to strong community support.

The YMCA has expanded its services over the years to meet local needs. One key initiative is the Tim Hight Food Program, named in honor of a dedicated local supporter, which was created to combat child hunger. Additionally, the YMCA has continued to introduce new youth and health programs, ensuring that residents of all ages have access to enriching opportunities.

Today, the Noble County Family YMCA is deeply woven into community traditions, from youth sports leagues to annual events like the “Turkey Trot” run. Branch/Facility Information 

The Noble County Family YMCA operates two primary facilities in Perry, Oklahoma, serving as a hub for community wellness, youth development, and social engagement.

  • Main Facility: This 20,000-square-foot full-service YMCA includes a full-court gymnasium, a six-lane indoor swimming pool with a slide, men’s and women’s locker rooms, a whirlpool, steam and dry saunas, and strength and cardio training centers. The pool is a key resource for swim lessons, water safety programs, and fitness activities such as arthritis-friendly aquatic classes. The gymnasium serves as a central space for basketball leagues, group fitness classes, and community events.
  • Annex Facility: This 5,000-square-foot expansion houses a cycling studio, a multi-purpose fitness program studio, Child Watch services, and licensed childcare and summer day camp programs. The Noble County Family YMCA is in the midst of its first-ever capital campaign, a significant milestone for the organization and the community. As of last week, the campaign had reached 90% of its overall goal, with the majority of funds raised during the quiet phase, an impressive achievement, particularly for a small community. Additional updates from the fundraising committee are pending, but this strong early support highlights the community’s commitment and the campaign’s momentum.

Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000 annually

Residency Expectation: The CEO is expected to be highly engaged and visible in our community. Living in the YMCA’s service area is required.
