Job Description

Develops, organizes and implements high quality YMCA early childhood and child care, school age child care education, specialty camps and day camp program(s). The Executive Director, Childcare Services will lead all aspects of our childcare programs. This includes early learning programs at two sites, before and after school programs, and day camp. Recruits, trains, onboards and supports assigned staff and volunteers. Additional responsibilities include hiring and training of staff, curriculum development and evaluation, budget management, and adherence to all licensing regulations and Keystone Stars accreditation.

Qualifications

This position it highly strategic and facilitative. It requires a combination of focus and flexibility and a willingness to play an active role. As the CEO’s counsel on all things child care, the position requires a highly resourceful individual with vital emotional intelligence, self-motivation, and analytical skills. 

1.    Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent, or combination of education and experiences.

2.    Three years related experience preferred.

3.    Positive role model with strong leadership, conflict resolution and diplomacy skills.

4.    Typical requirements within an agreed upon period from date of hire include completion of: Child Abuse Prevention Training; CPR; First Aid; AED; New Staff Orientation and Customer Service training.

5.    Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of
the community.

6.    Ability to pass background checks in accordance with all Berwick Area YMCA policies for child abuse prevention. CPR and First Aid certifications may be required.

Essential Functions

  Oversees the development and operations early childhood, school age, and youth enrichment programs. Ensures high quality member-focused programs through innovative program development, evaluations and on-going training of staff.

2.    Establishes, with the CEO, long range plans for program growth in harmony with overall YMCA objectives. Expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Develops and implements selected new programs.

3.    Develop and direct high quality family engagement strategies and programs, that support YMCA mission, goals and strategies. Develops a parent experience pathway to ensure parents easily move from interest to enrollment and from enrolled to advocate.

4.    Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Develops a cohesive child care staff team.

5.    Monitors, evaluates and improves the quality of all programming and departments assigned. Ensures high quality programs through innovative program development, data-driven evaluations and ongoing training of staff and volunteers.

6.    Develops, manages and controls budgets related to the position. Ensures program operates within budget and that program fees are collected.

7.    Ensures that program and Association standards and policies are met and safety procedures are followed. Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.

8.    Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensures the physical environment supports outstanding youth development.

9.    Develops and maintains relationships with all stakeholders including school administration, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs. Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.

10.  Provides staff leadership for YMCA special events and committees as assigned.

11.  Organizes special events for parents.

12.  Assists with overall YMCA management.

13.  Implements effective marketing strategies and assists in the distribution of program information.

14.  Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.

15.  Responsible for the oversight and evaluation of multiple programs. Directly supervises two (2) exempt staff team members.
