YMCA Camp Willson, Central Ohio's premier overnight camp and outdoor education center, is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Overnight Camp Director to lead our dynamic programs. Each summer, YMCA Camp Willson provides hundreds of children with transformative experiences, fostering connections with nature, building lifelong friendships, and creating lasting memories through diverse activities. Beyond summer, the camp offers year-round programming for all ages, making it a cornerstone for outdoor adventure and community engagement. The Overnight Camp Director will oversee the development and execution of high-quality, mission-driven programs that embody the YMCA’s core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility in a safe and inclusive environment.
The ideal candidate will be a cause-driven leader with a passion for youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. They will manage staff hiring, training, and supervision, ensure the safety and upkeep of camp facilities, and foster meaningful community relationships. Responsibilities include strategic planning, budget management, and the creation of innovative, member-focused programs that support the YMCA’s mission and goals. The Overnight Camp Director will represent and promote the YMCA within the local community, collaborating with businesses, government agencies, and other organizations to advance the camp’s impact. - Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, business or equivalent.
- Four or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
- Ability to direct total operations through volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of branch budget, marketing and public relations, and program development.
- Experience in management and development of volunteer involvement; ability to recruit top community leaders and to engage them in the philanthropic efforts of the YMCA.
- Proven track record in direct appeal annual support campaigns.

- CPR, First Aid, AED and O2 certifications must be obtained within first 60 days
- YMCA Multi-Team or Branch Leader certification; if not certified, must obtain certification within 12 months
- Thinks, communicates and behaves as a cause-driven leader and role model for other staff and members when it comes to desired staff behaviors; promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job-related functions.
- Assists with the development of the boards and/or committees. Directs the volunteer activities (policy and program) of the branch.
- Assists with financial development activities of the assigned location; works to create and maintain a culture of philanthropy surrounding the Y.
- Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities. Develops, maintains, and models collaborative relationships with community agencies in service delivery areas.
- Oversees the hiring, training, and supervision of assigned staff and volunteers.
- Assists in the development, management, and monitoring of the branch operating budget to meet or exceed budget targets.
- Directly supervises assigned program / operational areas.
- Assists with strategic planning efforts and in developing the annual operating plan of location.
- Assists in developing and directing high quality relationship-based member or participant engagement strategies. Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community.
- Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member or participant-focused programs which support the Y mission, goals, and strategies.
- Ensures the safety and maintenance of high quality facilities, grounds, and equipment.
- Assists with marketing and communication efforts to effectively communicate benefit to the community.
- Serves as a member of Y management and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages and coaches four to six program directors who supervise a total of up to 200 employees in the branch. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training and developing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
