Summer Camp and Group Director

We are currently seeking a Summer Camp and Group Director, for our Collin County Adventure Camp. 
Camp Description

Collin County Adventure Camp began with a collective vision to bring the outdoor learning experience to children of Collin County and the surrounding area. Since we first opened our gates in 2006, we have grown our programs from fall through spring Outdoor Education to include 10 weeks of Summer Camp and year-round Group Retreats. 19 years later, we are very proud to be a part of Collin County and the Y’s ongoing dedication to enriching the lives of children and families of Collin County through outdoor education and adventure.

Job Description

This person is responsible for recruiting and booking groups to use the camp as well as scheduling and providing services for those groups. This person will meet with potential groups, make presentations at potential events and otherwise promote CCAC as a premier outdoor meeting site available in Collin County. The Director will oversee the planning and executing of summer camp programming for both day camp and resident camp. It will be important to ensure staff development through semi-annual reviews, staff meetings and ongoing training. The Director will work closely with all camp staff to ensure group needs are communicated to appropriate staff and concerns shared with staff in a timely and professional manner. This person will lead program staff in continuous quality improvement to strengthen branch operations and teamwork and will develop and monitor the budget in such a manner as meeting the expectations for the branch financial status.

Qualifications

Candidates must be an effective communicator with strong customer relations skills. They should have experience managing groups from recruiting and booking to scheduling activities and supporting the groups while at camp. They should possess skills in managing multiple tasks and priorities, including motivating staff & volunteers, and hiring, training and evaluating staff. Incumbent should be able to work with individuals and organizations to deliver their programs onsite. Must obtain & maintain all required training for this position. The incumbent must be an effective communicator, supervisor, trainer and mentor to the program staff. Ability to make sound judgments & decisions and handle irate, complaining or demanding individuals in a calm manner, must recognize & respect all sensitive information and utilize confidentiality accordingly.
