Job Description

The YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth is seeking an innovative and strategic leader to join our team and help advance the mission of the Y—a leading nonprofit focused on strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Director of Major Gifts will collaborate with the Fund Development/Donor Experience Team to foster a culture of philanthropy and lead association-wide fundraising efforts. 

This position is located within our Association Resource Office which is the central hub for support and resources for the entire YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth. By housing essential functions such as philanthropy, communications, and people and program development, the Association Resource Office ensures that all branches of the YMCA can effectively deliver high-quality programs and services that align with our mission and values.

As a member of the YMCA Association Resource Office team, the Association Director of Major Gifts will play a critical role in securing necessary resources to sustain and grow our programs, ultimately enabling the YMCA to better serve the children, families, and communities of Fort Worth and surrounding areas. It is a requirement that the candidate lives in the community that the YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth serves.

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. CFRE or CFRM preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum five years in professional development, with proven success in major gifts and donor engagement. At least three years of leadership experience, including team management and development.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to represent the YMCA in professional settings.
  • Proven track record of meeting fundraising goals and managing relationships with donors.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multi-unit organization.
  • High energy and passion for the YMCA’s mission.

 

Essential Functions
  • Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects for the association.
  • Collaborate with Association Leadership, the Board of Directors, and Branch Leadership to develop and execute strategies for major gift cultivation, stewardship, and solicitation.
  • Coordinate and implement the Annual Campaign in partnership with the VP of Development.
  • Lead the Major Gifts Program, focusing on major gifts for Annual Support, Capital Campaigns and the Endowment.
  • Build and nurture relationships with individual, corporate, and organizational donors, ensuring regular communication and stewardship.
  • Evaluate potential major gift opportunities and conduct donor research.
  • Develop and execute solicitation strategies, with support from leadership.
  • Work with the Donor Experience/Development Team to ensure proper donor acknowledgment and recognition.
  • Collaborate with the CFO, Endowment Board, and leadership teams to maintain donor intent and continuity of contributions.
  • Identify and engage volunteers to support fundraising efforts.
  • Provide leadership and training to staff and volunteers to further a culture of philanthropy within the YMCA.
  • Represent the YMCA at local community events and develop positive relationships with other organizations.

Required Certifications

The YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth offers a competitive salary and benefits package for selected candidates.

The yearly salary range for this position is $70,000 - $75,000 and will be commensurate with the selected candidates experience.
