The YMCA Camp Cullen facility is a best-in-class facility, intentionally designed to deliver a high-quality, immersive experience to kids of all ages. The cabins, activities, layout and amenities, mixed with the well-preserved natural environment provide a perfect setting for fun, growth, excitement, disconnection from the hustle of the world and reconnection with nature and new friends.
This position will oversee completion of the administrative tasks of the summer camp program, including but not limited to, lost and found, digitizing internal reports, mail, medical liaison, and camper supplies. Along with creating a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes camper safety and engagement. Provides a quality experience to children and parents focused on youth development including the YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, and faith.
1. High school graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.
2. At least 18 years of age.
3. Prefer 2 years previous experience working in a camp setting and 1 year of supervisory experience.
4. Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: outdoor living, archery, boating, camping, songs/music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games, etc.
5. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention trainings.
6. Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
1) Maintaining organization and order of administrative responsibilities.
2) Assist in scheduling and organization of Leadership weekly tasks.
3) Assist in the collection and delivery of needed camper supplies upon first day of camp programing.
4) Assist in delivery of a safe, fun and effective summer camp program.
a) Maintains current knowledge of all emergency procedures.
b) Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies, and guidelines for land activities.
c) Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
d) Take immediate action to ensure safety procedures are followed by campers. Follows up with summer camp director to determine long term solutions/actions, provides timely and accurate reports and follow-ups.
5) Responsible for completing daily tasks related to the physical operation of camp facilities, equipment and staff.
a) Submits requests in advance for additional office supplies when needed.
b) Uploading and reporting any and all reports to respective online systems.
c) Maintaining lost and found items located on site.
d) Organizing, delivery and collection of mail to staff and campers.
e) Assisting the medical team in the completion of medication delivery to campers.
f) Organization and delivery of camper shirts.
g) Assisting the camp Business Director and team with the camp store.
6) Participates enthusiastically with other program staff to prepare camp for summer camper arrivals, departures, and special events.
7) Participates enthusiastically in program staff meetings and trainings.
8) Maintains positive relations with guests and other staff. Conveys information on programs and schedules to campers.
9) Attends camp marketing events and other special events as directed and other duties allow.
10) Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities.
11) Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community agencies in service delivery area.
12) All other duties assigned.
