The Greater Wyoming Valley Area YMCA is looking for a Chief Operating Officer to join our team! 
Job Description

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Chief Operating Officer at Greater Wyoming Valley Area YMCA serves on the CEO’s senior leadership team, alongside leaders in Finance, Development and Child Care Services, and ensures successful operation of the YMCA branches. The Chief Operating Officer is primarily responsible for providing leadership of assigned Branch Operations and branch executives, and also building systems and processes that improve program deployment and customer satisfaction association-wide.

Qualifications

•          Bachelor's degree in human services, business, social services or equivalent work experience

•          YMCA Organizational Leader certification preferred.

•          Eight or more years of professional experience in the YMCA or another nonprofit preferred.

•          Knowledge and experience in all aspects of operations, including staff supervision and development, membership practices, program development and implementation, volunteerism, facility and property management and financial practices.

•          Understanding of the nature and purpose of the YMCA and the respective roles of volunteers and staff.

•          Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community; track record of building authentic, constructive relationships with others.

Essential Functions

•          Supervises branch executive directors to assure sound operations. Addresses the root cause of systemic issues rather than symptoms.

•          Provides leadership and direction to the branches by coaching branch and camp executives and by providing overall direction to the branch boards and volunteers.

•          Ensures the operational growth of the YMCA through program expansion, member recruitment and retention, pricing strategies, new site development, collaborations, and mergers and acquisitions. Guides the organization to make tough choices about what to stop, start, and continue.

•          Ensures that all programs comply with YMCA standards and methods of operations and continually strives to the highest possible level of program quality.

•          Monitors monthly financial reports to assure that revenue targets are met and expenses are controlled.

•          Creates effective, sustainable, organization-wide collaborations and programming to accomplish YMCA goals, and works with staff groups to develop and implement programs.

•          Assists in the development and implementation of plans for maintenance of and improvements to existing properties, facilities and equipment. Assists management in the planning, development and construction of all new Association facilities.

•          Partners with the board and community to ensure the Y is identifying and meeting community needs effectively

•          In concert with the CEO, gives leadership to Association long-range strategic planning and monitors performance and stated objectives.
