The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Maintenance Technician II to join our team.

The Maintenance Technician II works independently on preventative, routine, and emergency maintenance for the building, building support systems, and membership program equipment. The Maintenance Technician II is also responsible for performing custodial and grounds-keeping tasks as necessary to maintain a clean and pleasing appearance of the building.

Wage: $21.49 to $23.49 per hour, depending on qualifications

Hours: Full-Time, 40 hours per week

Location: Tom Taylor Family YMCA, Gig Harbor, WA

Qualifications
  • Five years’ experience with plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, or other specialty skill areas. Demonstrated excellent skills and the ability to work independently and provide leadership with specific tasks.
  • Vocational/Technical certifications preferred.
  • An intermediate understanding of buildings and the operation and maintenance of building systems.
  • Knowledge of safe and correct operation of the equipment, procedures, and techniques to perform the required tasks.
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment. Understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment. Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.
  • Knowledge of pool maintenance and operation, safety regulations and possession of a pool operator’s certification. If not in possession of one, have the ability to obtain one as soon as the training course is available.
  • Demonstrated skills in organization, time management, and coordination of workload.
  • Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).

  • Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required.
Essential Functions
  • Perform preventative, routine and emergency maintenance for the building, its support systems and program equipment
  • Operate and maintain the swimming and hydrotherapy pools at functioning levels
  • Operate and maintain the heating and air conditioning systems to ensure member satisfaction
  • Perform routine and emergency maintenance repairs as needed
  • Maintain product inventory listings, Material Safety Data Sheets
  • Ensure YMCA building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor
