Job Description

The Overnight Camp & Conference Director will oversee the weekend programs, private events, and Summer Overnight Camp. This role will manage the seasonal rentals and the 7-week Overnight Camp program in conjunction with the Day Camp Director and Sr. Director. 

YMCA Camp Kresge is open year-round, with heated cabins that allow programs to extend out of the summer months. A major goal of this position is to increase participation in the Overnight Camp programs, along with improving the experience of rental groups. The Overnight Camp serves campers and staff from all over the world, making this a unique leadership role in a beautiful outdoor setting. 

Qualifications
  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • 3 years minimum Summer Camp experience or equivalent experience working with children
  • Supervisory experience, preferably in a camp setting
  • Ability to communicate well and provide quality leadership
  • Must have a clean driving record, valid driver's license, and ability to obtain required clearances
Essential Functions
  • Organize and facilitate staff training for leadership staff, counselors, specialists, and conference staff
  • Organize summer programs, in collaboration with seasonal summer leadership team
  • Plan, organize, & manage Summer Overnight Camp program, including registration, daily operations, parent communication, CampDoc management, & program quality
  • Organize all-conference, parent/child, family camp, & children’s weekend schedules
  • Supervise seasonal leadership staff and year-round conference staff
  • Oversee all theme programs, Raggers program, weekend trips, and overall program quality
  • Coordinate camp and conference staff schedules
  • Development of new year-round programs
  • Ensure safety protocols are being enforced to provide a safe camp experience to all participants
  • Provide additional support to international staff and campers
  • Assist with creating social media content and operating the Camp Store
  • Market programs to returning and new participants, and attend camp & hiring fairs
  • Oversight of facility cleanliness
  • Assist with general office tasks like answering phones and responding to emails in a timely manner
  • Assist with creation of department budget; oversee program specific budget revenue and expense lines
  • Other duties as assigned by the Sr. Program & Facilities Director and/or Executive Director
Cause-Driven Leadership Competencies

YUSA Leader or Team Leader certification (completed or in progress)

Required Certifications

 Can obtain within 90 days of start date 

  • Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification and Lifeguard certification

  • HSI Instructor certification- First Aid/CPR certification

  • Trained in low & high ropes safety protocols within first three months of hire
