Job Description

Ensures successful operation of the East Family YMCA of the YMCA of Greater Montgomery, including membership, program development, volunteer recruitment, staff supervision, financial development, community relations, collaborations, budgeting and financial results.  The East YMCA has been serving its community since 1957.  It is the home to the YMCA’s pre-school and year-round swim team, specializing in youth development including childcare and youth sports, AOA programming, and aquatics.

Qualifications

1.    Bachelor's degree in human services, business, social services or equivalent

2.    Five or more years of professional experience in the YMCA or another nonprofit preferred.

3.    Knowledge and experience in all aspects of operations, including staff supervision and development, successful membership practices, quality program development and implementation, volunteerism, facility and property management, and sound financial practices.

4.    Understanding of the mission and cause of the YMCA and the respective roles of volunteers and staff.

5.    Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community; track record of building authentic, constructive relationships with others.

6.    Ability to handle multiple demands and priorities and achieve organizational objectives

7.    YMCA Multi-Team Leader certification preferred.

8.    Experience in Aquatics and Youth Development preferred.

9.    Experience in growing membership and AOA programs preferred.

Essential Functions
  1. Directs the East Family Y Branch and supervises the leadership to ensure sound operation. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community.
  2. Leads and supervises all facility/property maintenance, repair and overall upkeep for the association to meet the needs of current and potential members and the Y's safety, service, and security objectives.
  3. Coordinates the development of branch board and committees.  Directs and oversees the volunteer activities (policy and program).
  4. Develops, manages, and monitors operating budgets and meets or exceeds budget targets.
  5. Continually reviews key performance measures and ensures the operational growth of the YMCA through program expansion, member recruitment and retention, pricing strategies, and collaborations.
  6. Ensures high performance and success of annual and capital contributions goals.
  7. Provides staff leadership to the necessary Cabinets.
  8. Oversees the hiring, training, and supervision of branch staff.
  9. Identifies potential areas for programming to accomplish YMCA goals, and works with staff groups to develop and implement programs.
  10. Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs and leads branch staff in the planning, development and implementation of new program initiatives and activities.
  11. Actively pursue and develop relationships within the community including schools, churches, homeowner’s associations, civic organizations, etc.
  12. Create a member-focused culture to promote membership growth and retention.
  13. Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

Required Certifications

CPR/First Aid and AED

Required within 30 days of employment: Bloodborne Pathogens, Child Abuse Prevention training.
