Youth & Family Director

The Salt Fork YMCA is seeking a dynamic, cause-driven leader to serve as Youth and Family Director.
Job Description

Under the direction of the Executive Director the Youth & Family Program Director is responsible for the organization, delivery, and quality of YMCA programs (Afterschool, Day Camp, and Youth Sports) to Y members, program participants, and the community. This position works independently, under general direction, and is expected to determine how to accomplish tasks. The Program Director position includes, but is not limited to, developing relationships with principals, parents, part-time staff, and program participants; ensuring proper monitoring, evaluating, and improving program delivery; hiring and training; establishing collaborative partners; marketing and promoting Y programs; and working collaboratively with colleagues to accomplish collective goals.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent.
  • One to two years related experience preferred.
  • Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Essential Functions
  • Oversees the development, implementation, and management of operating plans to promote growth and retention of programs and membership.  Executes strategies to ensure that members and/or program participants connect with one another and connect with the YMCA. Ensures that program standards are met and safety procedures are followed.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, and supervises staff and volunteers in assigned areas and conducts annual performance evaluations. Facilitates communication and provides leadership. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions.
  • Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
  • Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, may organize and schedule program registrations. May review and process program scholarship applications.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
  • Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Coordinates use of facilities for program activities and events.
  • Provides leadership and support to the annual fundraising campaign and volunteer committees/boards as assigned. Develops and maintains effective working relationships within the community.
  • Provides data and reports as required for assigned programs.
  • Accept additional assignments as deemed appropriate, within the scope of the job description.

Required Certifications

Requirements within 30 days of hire include: Child Abuse Prevention; CPR; First Aid; AED; Blood borne Pathogens.  Completion of YMCA program specific certifications and training modules.
