Job Description

The Development Director is a crucial role responsible for leading the strategic planning, execution, and evaluation of fundraising and development initiatives. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Development Director will collaborate with senior leadership to foster a culture of philanthropy, innovation, and community engagement. This role is vital in advancing the mission of the Y, a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing community health and well-being.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, or related field.

- Minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising, development, or nonprofit management.

- Proven track record of successful fundraising and donor management.

- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.

- Strong understanding of fundraising principles, grant writing, and donor stewardship.

- Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams in a collaborative environment.

- Commitment to the mission and values of the YMCA.

Essential Functions
  • Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to support the YMCA’s mission and goals.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with individual donors, corporate sponsors, foundations, and government agencies.
  • Identify, apply for, and manage grants from public and private sources.
  • Organize and oversee fundraising events and campaigns to engage the community and generate support.
  • Ensure timely and appropriate acknowledgment of all gifts and ongoing donor communications.
  • Track and report on fundraising progress and outcomes to the CEO and Board of Directors.
  • Create compelling fundraising materials and campaigns.
