The Oshkosh Community YMCA is made up of two Main Branches. The Downton YMCA and the 20th Ave. YMCA. We also have a Tennis and Pickleball Center located on Highway Y and a beautiful summer camp located just 7 miles from our 20th Ave. Branch. This position would be responsible for supervising leadership staff and programming at both the Downtown and 20th Ave. locations. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Senior Aquatics Director at the Oshkosh Community YMCA intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined while also managing safe, high-quality, member-focused aquatics programs. The ideal candidate is highly motivated and can provide strong leadership and development.
1. Supervise and develop full time coordinators and specialists at both YMCA branches.
2. Through working with your team, the Senior Aquatics Director ensures programs and services meet community needs to include supervising existing program activities, establishing new program activities, and expanding the program within the community as needed. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
3. Leads team to monitor daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations and conducts and ensures proper maintenance of pools. Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance.
4. Recruits and hires diverse staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity. Onboards and develops them for success. Conducts lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid and CPR trainings. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.
5. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
6. Maintains regular, clear, professional, and concise communication.
7. Manages the department, including developing and monitoring the program budget to meet fiscal objectives; compiling program statistics to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in programs; assists in maintaining the pool facilities; and coordinates the scheduling of classes, practices, special events, and swim meets.
