Job Description

Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, the Aquatics Coordinator helps plan, develop, manage, coordinate and conduct aquatics programs including: 2nd Grade Swim, teaching and coordinating swimming lessons, maintaining aquatic facilities, training aquatic staff, implementing and conducting a diversified aquatics program and aquatics events, and performing other departmental activities as required.

Hours:

This is a full-time position.  37.5 hours/week - must be flexible and able to work days and/or evenings and be available for weekends.

Qualifications
  • Previous experience in Aquatics, guarding, managing, instructing, and running swim meets.
  • Strong communication and customer services skills.
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to get work well with people of diverse backgrounds; and be enthusiastic, courteous and friendly with children, parents and staff.
  • Assist in the administration of class lesson plans and enables staff to present them.
  • Ability to assist members and staff better understand all Aquatics programs.
  • Must be a competent and effective leader.
Essential Functions
  • Safeguard the lives of our members and all pool participants first.
  • Using excellent customer service skills establish and maintain effective working relationships with all members, other staff and all vistors and constituents of the YMCA.
  • Be familiar with and understand all standards as they apply to assuring an engaging, impactful, and safe sports program for participants of all ages.  Applies knowledge of sports programming, rules and regulations as it relates to baseball, soccer, basketball and other sports.
  • Oversee, assist and support aquatic staff, including lifeguards, instructors, seasonal employees, and volunteers for the successful operation of the Y.
  • Ensure all certifications are up to date.
  • Supervise lifeguards, instructors; review progress and direct changes as needed. Schedule and cover lifeguards, instructors as needed.
  • Must be flexible and able to work flexible day/evening hours; and be available weekends.
  • Over time may be required during swim season.
