Job Description

Qualifications
  • Ensure the supervision and safety of children at all times
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement activities that fit children's developmental needs, interests, and creative learning
  • Communicate with parents effectively and create a positive relationship
  • Interact with children being consistent, fair and treating them with dignity and respect according to the YMCA Code of Conduct
  • Comply with Community Care Licensing regulations at all times
  • Change diapers and maintain the cleanliness and health standards of the environment at all times
  • General housekeeping of program space and food preparation
  • Record and monitor the daily activities of children in your care
  • Plan, supervise and implement the program in accordance with the goals and policies of the YMCA
Essential Functions
  • Must be 18 or older
  • 12 units in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Child Development, at least 6 of the units must be Infant/Toddler classes. AA or BA in Early Childhood Education is highly desirable
  • 6 months to 1 year of experience working in an Infant/Toddler child care center or comparable setting is highly desirable
  • Must be highly dependable
  • Sincere interest in working with children age 6 weeks to 2 years old
  • Must have a warm and friendly personality, while having sensitivity to meet the needs of a diverse population
  • Willingness to fulfill the job responsibilities in accordance to the program and branch goals
  • Pediatric CPR and Pediatric First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire, unless specified otherwise on contract, and must be from one of the following:
    • American Red Cross
    • American Heart Association
    • American Safety & Health Institute

  •  Physical ability to lead outdoor play, games and activities
