Job Description

Oversee all aspects of aquatic programming including training, supervision of lifeguards, coordination of swim lessons and all aspects of Aquatic programming for the branch. Under the leadership of the Executive Director this position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. All staff are representatives of the philosophy, mission and goal of the YMCA and its youth development programs. Staff must strive to work cooperatively with fellow employees to achieve the goals and objectives of the YMCA.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in Aquatics Programming
  • Current CPR/AED/First Aid/Lifeguard Certification
  • Minimum 2-year Staff or Volunteer supervision experience
  • Knowledge of aquatics programming and safety issues
  • Demonstrated leadership, dependability & flexibility in work hours

Preferred:

  • Bilingual - English/Spanish.
  • Lifeguard Instructor Certification
  • Associate’s degree, or higher
Essential Functions
  • Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed.
  • Reviews and evaluates staff performance.
  • Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Conducts training as needed and ensures staff records are current and complete.
  • Monitors and maintains records of daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations and ensures proper maintenance of pool.
  • Develops and manages program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures regarding the prevention of abuse.
  • Report any suspected abuse, neglect, or misconduct immediately to the appropriate supervisory staff.
  • Attend mandatory training on abuse prevention, including recognizing signs of abuse, and reporting requirements.
