This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

Under the direction of a Senior Program Director, the Active Older Adult Program Director is responsible for driving usage and engagement of older adults through developing strategies, coordinating events, data monitoring and reporting, and building community partnerships tied to the Y’s older adult population.  Primary goal of this role is to provide opportunities for older adults to increase their social connections.

Qualifications
  • Ability to motivate and empower a diverse client base to make healthy lifestyle changes
  • College degree in Health Education, Health Science, Exercise Science, or related field preferred
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Experience facilitating group exercise programming for older adults strongly preferred
  • Experience in the implementation and facilitation of health and wellness programming preferred
  • Experience coordinating large-scale activities or events preferred
  • Must possess reliable transportation to travel to multiple locations through the Greater St. Louis region
  • Program certifications required for relevant programs (i.e., YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program Lifestyle Coach Certification, Healthy Heart Ambassador Certification, etc.)*

Essential Functions
  • Collaborates with branch program staff on Active Older Adult programming efforts for the Association, including the development and maintenance of engagement and recruitment strategies geared towards older adults
  • Collaborate with marketing and communications to story tell impact and outcomes of strategies
  • Utilize data platforms to formally track and report outcomes
  • Executes member engagement and sales strategies that promote retention and recruitment of  AOA members
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community partners in alignment with AOA-related interests and strategic priorities
  • Operate in alignment with GWRYMCA’s Community Health Team to drive awareness, recruitment, and enrollment in chronic disease prevention programming
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
