The Aquatics Director position at Ocean Community YMCA is an excellent way to be a part of helping your community. Situated on the Southern RI shoreline makes water safety very important for everyone, along with managing the swim team and providing adult swim exercise classes, you are in a spot to help all. This position will oversee the operation of the Aquatics Department, which includes promoting and delivering quality programs, hiring and supervision of staff, budget development/management, and maintaining a clean and safe pool environment. In addition, the Aquatics Director has overall management of the Swim Team and Swim Team parent organization.
Qualifications
Qualifications for this position include a Bachelor's Degree with at least 3 years experience in the aquatics field and in supervision or 7 years experience with increasing responsibilities. Excellent communication and public relations skills. Maintaining Lifeguard and POOL certifications required.
Essential Functions
- Creates innovative programs, manages current programs, and complies with YMCA standards and safety procedures.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; reviewing and approving timesheets; appraising performance; and disciplining employees; monitoring and updating all required staff certifications; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Directly supervises part-time and non-exempt employees and volunteers.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Develops, manages and monitors aquatics department budgets. Assesses and recommends budgeting for facility and equipment needs.
- Assists in volunteer opportunities as assigned.
- Develops, produces and disseminates appropriate program information in order to promote aquatic programs to the public and to keep members current.
- Ensures that program areas, equipment and supplies are maintained in an orderly and safe manner.
- Provides data and reports on assigned programs in support of the planning process of the branch and Association.
- Represents the branch at various meetings related to the position.
- Maintain physical upkeep of the pool deck and vacuuming of the pool.
- Maintain current CPR/AED, First Aid, Emergency Oxygen, Lifeguard, Lifeguard Instructor, POOL and all other required certifications.
- Play an active leadership role in the annual support campaign and assist leadership in the successful completion of the campaign and other related special events and activities.
