Nestled on a hillside along the Eel River, in the town of Redway in Southern Humboldt County. Our rustic, natural environment and small camp size offers a rich environment for kids to learn about themselves, their surroundings, and how to live in their community.
YMCA CAMP RAVENCLIFF RESIDENTIAL CAMP HEALTH MANAGER
Salary Range: $750-$1000/week plus room & board
Status: Full-Time / Seasonal
Camp Location: Southern Humboldt County *This is a residential camp program and staff are required to live onsite during their employment*
Dates: June 28, 2025-July 27, 2025
Under direction of the Camp Director, the Health Manager is responsible for providing for the health care to meet individual needs of camp staff and campers, in accordance with the policies, procedures and standards established by the Sonoma County Family YMCA.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum age 21
- Bachelor's degree, desired
- Current MD, NP, PA, RN, LVN, or EMT license/certification for state of California, LVN or higher certification preferred
- Experience in pediatrics, school health, emergency, or urgent care, desired
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Current certification in First Aid, CPR and AED for adults and children
- Ability to work independently and with basic healthcare equipment
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills
- Fingerprint clearance from both Department of Justice (DOJ) & FBI, which includes sex offender screening.
- Must attend all mandatory training sessions, including but not limited to Child Abuse Awareness and any required pre-camp trainings.
- Because this position lives among the camp community, it is strongly recommended to be current on all standard vaccines including COVID-19, measles and pertussis.
- Provide health care to meet individual needs of campers and staff
- Ensures that all medications are administered according to doctors' orders or "as needed"
- Attends to "walk in" campers and staff with medical needs
- Acts as a first responder to emergencies at Camp
- Acts as a liaison with parents and/or doctors regarding camper medications, illnesses, and injuries
- Monitors and assesses all campers and staff in the isolation area as needed
- Keep private, accurate records of all health care given to campers and staff
- Ensure ill or injured campers are continuously supervised, with assistance of other staff members as needed
- Organize camper medications each session, and ensure medications are returned at end of campers’ stay
- Order and maintain all necessary medical supplies and equipment
- Prepare and distribute first aid kits throughout camp. Ensure kits are regularly stocked
- Perform health screening of campers and staff as directed
- Communicate with staff members as needed regarding individual camper health needs, including allergies.
- Attend training sessions and staff meetings as scheduled.
- Help provide for health and safety of children and staff, know emergency and camp procedures.
- Ensure policies and procedures are followed.
