This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Youth & Family Engagement Director leads all aspects of youth and family programming for the branch, ensuring the cause and culture is instilled in strategy and staff development. This position works collaboratively with membership and program teams to provide members and participants with the best experience through detailed analysis and communication.
1.Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent
2.Minimum 1-year supervisory experience in customer service &/or youth programming
3.Demonstrated success leading youth programming or equivalent team
4.Demonstrated leadership, dependability & flexibility in work hours
5.Complete within 30 days of hire: YMCA cause & culture training; program-specific training; BLS CPR; First Aid; Emergency Oxygen Administration(provided by YMCA)
6.Must meet state licensing requirements for Director position, if applicable
7.Must meet annual training hour requirements for duration of position
8.Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community and successful clearance of background check
9.Follow youth boundaries policies and abuse risk management training.
10. Report suspicious behavior, policy violations, and adhere to mandated abuse reporting and responsibilities.
11. Complete all required abuse prevention training prior to first shift.
12. Screen, train, and enforce abuse prevention policies for staff.
13. Promote a reporting culture, address violations, and maintain confidentiality.
14. Ensure compliance with mandated reporting and communicate zero tolerance to all staff.
1. Directs and supervises programs to meet the needs of the community and fulfills YMCA objectives.
2. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules, and directs staff, contractors and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance and manages payroll.
3. Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
4. Implements membership and program strategies that support recruitment of new members and retention of existing members. Creates a member-focused culture and models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Fosters a climate of innovation and resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction.
5. Promotes program and membership enrollment in interactions with existing and potential members. Coordinates with Program Directors on program specifics and registration details.
6. Monitors program operations, equipment and facilities, and curriculum to adhere to all state, local and YMCA regulations. Coordinates scheduling, safety, and use of facilities (on and off-site) for programs and events.
7. Establishes new programs and relationships to expand programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
8. Assists in the marketing and distribution of membership and program information, organizes and schedules program registrations. Reviews and processes program scholarship applications. Compiles program statistics and submits reports. Makes program modifications as needed.
9. Assists in YMCA fundraising efforts and special events. Actively participates in branch, department, and association staff meetings and/or related trainings.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.
