Job Description

The Director of Youth Development & Marketing provides leadership and direction for all programs in the Youth Development department and upper-level marketing and promotional efforts for the organization.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent is preferred. 

One to two years’ related experience preferred.

Ability to communicate and relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Strong management and decision-making skills include the ability to influence, engage, and lead others to new levels of effectiveness and programmatic impact. 

Ability to multi-task and manage multiple programs simultaneously. 

Self-motivated, results driven, detail oriented, and adaptable. 

Proficient computer skills with experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office, program software, and social media.

Essential Functions

Manages, directs, and coordinates all youth development programs. Ensures high quality programs and establishes new department activities. Expands program within the community through collaborative partnerships. 

Provides quality experiences for children and families that focuses on engagement, structure, and learning opportunities. Current programs include summer camp, after-school programs, and special events. 

Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules, and directs department personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.

Develop, manage, and control department budget. Ensures all programs are cost recovery in nature.

Assures compliance with federal, state and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met, and safety procedures followed.

Develops and maintains relationships with community groups, school administration, parent groups, and agencies related to Youth Development. 

Provides exceptional customer service and responds to all inquiries and complaints in a timely manner. Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates participation trends.

Manage upper-level marketing and promotional efforts for the organization, including social media, monthly newsletters, press releases, and community appearances. Develops and initiates departmental marketing and promotion strategies.

Oversee the planning and execution of YMCA special events such as Healthy Kids Day.

Provides leadership for fund-raising campaigns and committee work as assigned.

Other duties as needed to assist in the overall successful operation of the YMCA.

Required Certifications

Fulfillment of state-specific hiring standards and completion of YMCA program specific certifications. Typical requirements include completion of Background Check, Child Abuse Prevention, CPR, First Aid, and AED.
