Job Description

The Y seeks an exceptional Sr. Development Operations and Major Gift Director to join our team. This role will play an important role in creating and executing organizational strategy and philanthropic growth alongside of the Chief Development and Philanthropy Officer and in collaboration with the Development team, branch leaders, marketing and communication team. The individual in this role role will play an integral part implementing long and short-term fundraising goals and strategies that align with the YMCA’s mission and vision, building the long-term sustainability and growth of the organization. As a key member of the Philanthropy and Development team this position will report directly to the Chief Development Officer.

The ideal candidate is an experienced front line fundraising professional with a broad understanding of all aspects of a healthy Philanthropic culture and is committed to making a difference in our community. Must have a proven track record of cultivating and soliciting major gifts, demonstrating the ability to build and maintain strong relations with donors and internal partners. Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven ability to prospect and secure major gifts from private and corporate partners
  • Proven track record (7-10 years) of relationship building, soliciting, and stewarding donors that build sustainable and long-term partnerships
  • Experienced staff and volunteer management and support
  • Ability to think strategically, work collaboratively, think on your feet and make informed decisions
  • Experience working on multi-functional staff-teams with a broad understanding of engagement, stewardship, advancement services (including donor data base, moves management, proposal creation and development systems and platforms), campaigns and gift integrity

  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage, inspire and build lasting relationships with internal and external partners

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and a minimum of seven years’ experience in management and development of volunteer involvement; ability to recruit top community leaders.

Essential Functions

Responsibilities:

  • Leads team in collaboration with Chief Development Officer to refine and execute Philanthropy process and procedures to achieve moves management excellence, fundraising growth and stewardship opportunities
  • Successfully manage major gift portfolio with established metrics
  • Collaborate with Annual Campaign Director with integrated strategies, mid-level growth movement while expanding stewardship efforts
  • Assist in auditing and determining best practice fundraising communications, platforms and social media posts in ways that increase and drive donor engagement.
  • Support Branch Executives with moves management and gift strategy
  • Align major gift cultivation and stewardship around Association, Branch activities, program events and out reach
  • Provide endowment growth and capital campaign support
  • Support branch boards with major gift educational opportunities to grow annual goal through discovery, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship
